Special TV trivia: Identify the show from the recurring line

Not quite, Bryan. I got it from *One Day at a Time, * on which it was spoken by lawyer David Kane (Richard Masur) whenever he was dismayed or shocked about something.
“Now, Chet!” was from Emergency! on which it was always spoken by Johnny Gage (Randolph Mantooth).
A few more:
A. “Ghrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!”
B. “Kabong!”
C. “Let’s talk for a minute about shop safety.” (No, it’s not Home Improvement! :D)
D. “Oh, Mr. Sheffield!” (spoken in a thick Queens Jewish accent).
E. “Are you still not getting it?!” (spoken in an icy Brooklyn accent).
F. “Por nada!”
G. “Shut up, Mel!”
H. “Holy hole in a donut!”

D. “Oh, Mr. Sheffield!” (spoken in a thick Queens Jewish accent).

The Nanny

Here’s some more:

“Picture it, Sicily, 1912.”

“Well, of course not, don’t be ridiculous!”

A. Lurch on The Addams Family ?
B. Huckleberry Hound

G. Alice

Not quite, Doubting Robert. They were in order:
My Little Margie (when she realized she was in trouble she trilled).
Quick Draw McGraw (When “Queekstraw” was in his alter ego as El Kabong, he would belt the bad guys over the head with his guitar).
Dick Van Dyke. Mel Cooley (Richard Deacon) was the show’s producer, brother-in-law of star Alan Brady (Carl Reiner). Mel was spineless; whatever Mel would say, Alan would shoot back with, “Shut up, Mel!”

New Yankee Workshop.

I have seen “My Little Margie” but not often (we didn’t get a TV until 1957) so I’m not surprised that I missed that one.

Quick Draw! Of course. Well, at least I got the right cartoon company.

Dick Van Dyke. Yup. I’ve got no excuse on that one. I watched that show a lot when it was new, and many times in reruns.

Might I suggest that when someone gets an answer wrong, you just say it’s wrong. That gives others a chance to get it right.

  1. “Yeeew dipstick!”

  2. “Make it so, Number One.”

  3. “You know, I’ve learned something today.”

  4. “Nip it! Nip it in the bud!”

  5. “Hi ho, Steverino!”

  6. “Hiya, Joe! Hello Mr. Dunnahy… hee hee hee!”

  7. “As always, should you or any member of your I.M.
Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.”

Isn’t “Hi ho, Steverino” from The Steve Allen Show?

I’ve got one…

“Do bees be? Do bears bear?”

  1. Dukes of Hazzard?
  2. The Andy Griffith Show (Barney mostly said it)
  3. Louis Nye as Gordon Hathaway from The Steve Allen Show
  4. Frank Fontaine as Crazy Guggenheim on The Jackie Gleason Show

Cancel, Ms. Musso. That was Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.

Don Knotts as Barney Fife in The Andy Griffith Show.

“I’m fine, Arthur. I’m a superhero!” That was The Tick.
How about:

“… and now, girls jumping on trampolines!”

Aw geez, The Man Show.

David Addison on Moonlighting

  1. “Nip it! Nip it in the bud!”
Andy Griffith Show, spoken by Barney Fife (Don Knotts)

  2. “Hi ho, Steverino!”
The Tonight Show (when hosted by Steve Allen), spoken by Louis Nye

  3. “Hiya, Joe! Hello Mr. Dunnahy… hee hee hee!”
The Jackie Gleason Show in the early 60s; spoken by Crazy Guggenheim (Frank Fontaine) to Joe the Bartender (Gleason) and the unseen Mr. Dunahee, representing the audience.

Actually, B.A. never said that on the show. That phrase was from Mr. T’s Rocky movie. I think his only recurring phrases were “Shut up, fool!” and “I ain’t getting on no plane, Hannibal!”

Now, guess where these phrases came from. (Nobody will get these! Nobody! Nobody! Bwahahahahaha!)

  • “Energize!”
  • “I love it when a plan comes together.”
  • “Atomic batteries to power. Turbines to speed.”
  1. Star Trek; The Next Generation?

  2. The A-Team- it was Hannibal’s phrase to express joy at snagging the bad guys.

  3. Batman, kind of- Although this phrase is spoken at the beginning of the theme song as it appears on some records and such, I don’t ever recall hearing it on the show.
OK, here are some more. . .

“The devil made me do it!”

“Waka waka waka!”

“Quiet, dingy!”
Zap!

Let’s see if I can get a couple of Zappo’s:

“The devil made me do it!”

– Flip Wilson in his Geraldine incarnation.

“Waka waka waka!”

– Fozzie Bear from The Muppet Show.

Going to have to give me some time to think of some to toss out there though.

It was indeed uttered on the show. I distinctly recall seeing it, having caught some Batman reruns while overseas a few years ago.
