In August I went to the KC dopefest and there I met sperfur for the first time. As a lurker I probably wouldn’t have gone except that my friend misstee made me go with her. While I was there I met a lot of dopers and had a great time. Sperfur had just bought a new house and wanted to show it off, so she invited us to a dopefest at her place in September.
The September dopefest was tremendous. We enjoyed BBQ, pudding wrestling, and strip Trivial Pursuit. We went to a bar and danced until closing time. When we got back to sperfur’s there were back rubs and licking lessons. Apparently I was quite good at licking behind sperfur’s ear because she said that she wanted to keep me.
The next day, sadly, it was time to leave. She wanted misstee and Wikkit to leave me with her, but, unfortunately, I had to go with them back to Iowa. I found out that I should have done what sperfur asked me to do, because my car broke down a half hour from Wikkit’s place. When she heard about what happened sperfur offered to loan me her spare car until mine was fixed. We started IMing and fell in love.
Flash forward two months and countless hours of drive time, I asked her to marry me and she said yes. We were married this morning at 11:30 here in Iowa and I’ll be moving to Missouri this weekend - so if we don’t respond to this OP right away, you’ll know why.
I would like to say thank you to the entire Straight Dope community for being so entertaining, friendly, and hospitable. Because you were all these things and more, it drew sperfur and I to stay here long enough to find each other.
I was there as well. You guys will forever be known to me as sperK and Withafer.
sperK was wearing a fetching purple dress and her grandmother’s necklace. Withafer looked dashing in his dark gray suit and a flashy cream rose boutineer. All in all, a rather attractive couple in a Dope kind of way.
