Sperm racing

Surprisingly, there’s a thread called Sperm Racing from 2003.

Now there’s this:

Sperm racing? A new sport is coming to Los Angeles

You read that right.

A startup recently announced the launch of the world’s first live sperm race, and you will be able to watch its inaugural edition right here in Los Angeles. …

The Sperm Racing website’s “manifesto” cites a worldwide decline in male fertility as the catalyst for the idea.

“Male fertility is declining. Like, a lot,” the “manifesto” states. “It’s happening quietly, steadily and nobody’s really talking about it.”

Thus, to raise awareness of the alarming trend, the founders are turning health into a sport.

The ‘tracks’ mimick the reproductibe system, chemical signals, and such.

Oh, goody.
A new way the male of this species can pull out their ruler.

Cannot wait.

I guess that they’ll do genetic testing on the winner, to determine whose it was?

John Barth has a story along these lines: Night-Sea Journey.

They raised $1 million and that crappy diagram that looks like it was scribbled on the back of a napkin is the best they could come up with? Maybe spend $100 of it to get someone who knows how to use Powerpoint to draw a diagram for them?

I remember that story, and the feeling of that light bulb going off and returning to read it from the start. That whole collection of stories is great.

I’m pretty sure that science-y phrases like “gradient/laminar flow” are enough to part some foolish people from their money.

Kinda reminds me of this (don’t worry, safe for work):

No seriously. It was 5 mph.

From the article:

The four men behind the idea are Eric Zhu (Thor Ventures, Aviato) Nick Small (the youngest sold-out founder in cryptocurrency), Shane Fan (Waterfall Market) and Garret Niconienko (Vertical Media, ex-MrBeast team)

Hard to believe that out of around 70 million sperm, theirs was the fastest
