Spider-Man in "The Italian Job" - did anyone else see that?

My wife and I saw “The Italian Job” over the weekend. There is a crowd scene late in the movie where people are frantically running around on the sidewalk, and just for a fraction of a second there is a guy visible in the scene wearing a Spider-Man costume! My wife and I looked at each other and we both said “Spider-Man?” It came completely out of left field, didn’t appear to have anything to do with anything, and the really strange thing is, nobody else that I have talked to that has seen the movie noticed this.

So, did anyone else see that, and what was that all about, other than to make me question my sanity?

Haven’t seen the movie, but thanks for the spoiler in the thread title!

I can’t say I remember seeing Spider-Man myself, but I would hardly characterize that as a “spoiler”, NGNL.

Unless Spidey plays some secret, pivotal role in The Italian Job, I can’t imagine how this is a spoiler in the slightest.

Why should he have put ‘spoiler’ in the thread title? There was no spoiler in the post.

I saw the film, but didn’t catch the Spiderman appearence. Must be an inside joke.

I saw Spider-Man in that scene too. Now you have to question my sanity as well.

just got back from seeing not 15 minutes ago and me and my uncle both said “huh??” when spiderman ran across the screen it appeared to be a really bad costume too.

Doesn’t Mann’s Chinese Theater show up near the end of the film (since it takes place in LA)? Maybe Spider-Man is the film playing there, and the guy in costume is “in character” for publicity reasons. Did anyone grab a look at the marquee?

Sorry, but it never occurred to me to flag this as a “spoiler” as it had absolutely nothing to do with the plot or anything else whatsoever, as far as I could tell. If it was anything more than a “don’t blink or you miss it” moment I definitely would have been more careful.

ArchiveGuy nailed it. I was at the Mann’s Chinese Theater mere weeks ago and they had Batman, Captain America and other super heros all standing outside. Oh, and the scene in Italian Job clearly was right outside the Mann’s Chinese Theater. It was a nice little touch if you ask me.

Spoiler schmoiler…it was a MEGA SECOND and, as the OP clearly stated, it has absolutely nothing to do with the film.

Yeah, I saw the film yesterday and I too noticed a guy in a Spiderman costume dashing with the hysterical crowd during that scene in front of Mann’s Chinese Theater.

That is a prime location for tourists and there are always lots of people in strange costumes hanging around to be photographed with the busloads of foreigners. There is usually a tip involved when a photo is taken, but it could just as easily been a guy paid to be in the costume to attract tourists to a T-shirt shop. In other words, for that location - seeing a guy in a Spiderman suit is nothing out of the ordinary.

Oh, and NoGoodNamesLeft, here is
another spoiler…there are CAR CHASES!

Sue me.

Mann’s Chinese Theater must show up in movies more than any other movie theater in the world; I just saw it in Hollywood Homicide. It must be cool to actually go to that theater and see a movie that shows the very theater you just entered.

Just asking, has anyone who watched the remake seen the original, or are even aware there’s an original? Personally, I think the REAL Italian Job is one of the best films ever. You know, I’d like to see the statistics on how many viewers of the remake have seen the original…

It was on the screen for more than eleven days?
Use caution WHEN SHOUTING.

Damn your spoiler! I didn’t even know the name of the movie until I read it here. You bastard! And then you top it off by saying there are crowds running. You have completely ruined the movie for me!! Bastard!!
