I can’t be the only one who thinks so! Why else would Nigel hate Janine so much? Clearly he was jealous. Well, jealous or offended by her poor taste in clothes and constant Yoko-esque meddling. But I consider the scene at the end of the movie where David invites Nigel to re-join Tap onstage as one of the finest romantic scenes in the history of film.
cf. Paul McCartney and John Lennon. They weren’t homosexual, but had a fraternal (meaning brother-like) love for each other. They were the model for Nigel and David.
