Spoil T3 for me (Spoilers)

Okay, okay. We all hate these threads. But there’s a difference in my case that will (hopefully) make it interesting enough for you to read it.

I’ve seen the film. It was fun. But, for various reasons, I have only seen it in French, and I understand next to no French (as an aside, the only two sentences I understood were “My name is John Conner” and “Your fiancé is dead”, with an educated guess of “I’m back”).

So, I’m not interested in who did what, and what happened next (although some exposition for some of the longer conversation scenes might be nice). What I want is funny one-liners, interesting backstory, and basically anything else I might have missed through not understanding any of the speech (although I was given enough one-sentence summaries that I managed to follow the plot).

Some specific points:
[ul][li]The guy I was with (who actually does understand French) said that Arnie said that he killed Conner, but without any explanation. Did he miss something?[/li]
In the shop, when the Terminator is picking up all the stuff, and he holds his hand in front of the worker, what did he say that had half the audience laughing?[/ul]So, if anybody can help me out here and actually give my experience some purpose, I’d be very grateful.

  1. “Talk to the hand.”

  2. In the future he was sent to kill Conner and succeeded because he is the same model as the one he bonded with in T2. He was reprogrammed and sent back in time by his wife, the Vet girl whose name I’ve forgotten.

I guess another plot point you might have missed was that Sarah Conner died of cancer a little after seeing that Judgement Day didn’t happen in 97.

The guy Draknek saw the film with wishes it to be known that the sound wasn’t that great, and that he did get the bit about Sarah Conner dying of cancer, but forgot to mention it to Draknek… Apart from that, am I the only one who thinks Arnie looked rather old? Although, in this case, I guess he was supposed to be an obsolete robot…

Actually, what does ‘talk to the hand’ mean in English?! Is it slang, or a reference to an ad, or what?

It’s slang, short for “Talk to the hand ‘cause the face ain’t listenin’”. Basically meaning “I don’t care what you have to say so don’t bother telling me.”

It’s also girl/gay talk, which is what made it really funny.

It is also also an extended version of a running gag, within the Terminator movie franchise.

In the original, Arnie uses the line “Fuck you, asshole,” after hearing it earlier in the film, from the punks he gets his clothes from. (Hey buddy, you got a dead cat in there, or what?)

In the second flick, there were “No problemo,” and “Hasta la vista, baby,” among a couple others, I think.
[sub]I fully expected to hear him reuse the “You forgot to say please,” bit the first time I saw T2.[/sub]

In the third flick, he’s repeating what the stripper/dancer says in the beginning of the film, when Arnie demands his clothes.
(Which is why he grabs, and coincidentally crushes, the guy’s hand, and repeats his demand for his clothes.)

“Give me your clothes, now.”
“Talk to the hand.”
Arnie grabs his hand, leans in and speaks directly to the fingertips.
“Now.”
