I am not askeptic and wouldn’t presume to speak for him, but the point that you mentioned seemed, to me, like a statement made to try and make herself look a little better. I have no way of proving or disproving the point, but it still came across as a dishonest statement made simply to try and pull herself out of the shit. YMMV and it appears that it does. I don’t really see it as a big deal now that everyone but Mynn is playing nice.
In my mind it on no way justifies her behavior. My comment was about the neighbors. If she is telling the truth, they are irresponsible, and Lefty’s remark is not truly stupid; if she is lying and he believes her, his remark still is not truly stupid.

Again, I realise I was unclear in my original post to the ATMB section. In that section I have often seen concerns about the SDMB discussed in a relatively civil manner. Granted, a couple hours spent here per week is nothing to those who spend every waking moment here, so I acknowledge that I didn’t know the Pit was for more than swearing and was an alternative to ATMB. Even knowing that, I don’t expect I wanted more pitting and ‘dogging’ of Spongemom and still wouldn’t have started it here.
I expanded upon my original post once I was informed* this thread had been, after dumping to the Pit and locking, unlocked. I explained and expanded on my brief and sputtering original post, despite my shock that threads actually get unlocked around here.
Following the guidlines of behaviour I’d seen exhibited around the Admin Who Will Not Be Dissed discussion and Her Actions That Are Not To Be Elaborated Upon, I assumed that there was a fair chance of a civil discussion taking place about Spongemom’s temporary forced break and the problem she was having.
Her problem: a thread that turned into something violating the ‘don’t take things elsewhere’ guideline.
With the cat/dog thread and references to it gone, much like The Bad Time Involving Strict Deletions Because There Was Possibly Harrassment That Crosses Into Criminiality, it would then all at least die out somewhat, and perhaps the potentially (I say potentially because I don’t want to commit myself not being familiar with the laws in her location, nor am I a legal beagle) criminal threats and harassment would also at least subside enough to prevent fresh dickless wonders from stumbling upon the cat/dog thread.
- no, I was not “told” the mods had opened it so people could shit on her more and more and more and more and find the original thread and raid her online sites again and threaten and harass her - I was guessing as to what reason they could possibly have to dump a discussion thread that wasn’t in the pit to the pit and open it. Sso people could shit on her some more, merely because her name was mentioned? I don’t know

I’m guessing that, in shock over my saying something so obviously out of character, you held off on a knee-jerk reaction post and instead dug around a little bit to see if you could discover what recent revelation by Spongemom could have prompted such a statement from me. After all, you’re hardly one to go off half-cocked: when you see something so minor as a misspelling in your post, you immediately correct it!

My cousin accidentally killed his one of his hamsters when it fell out of its cage (without him knowing, when he opened it to feed them) and he stepped on it. (He was about 12 or 13 at the time). He was absolutely devastated.

Thanks, guys! It didn’t even occur to me that Spongemom was lying; while I admit the possibility, it seems remote to me, and I have no reason to believe she is. For the tiem being, and based on that statement of hers, I’ll believe that her neighbors are showing irresponsibility. That and five bucks will get you a double frappucino.

As in, I’ve seen them, had slipped my mind. It was irresponsible and short-sighted of me, despite knowing I have the Hughes-Syndrome brain-fog tendencies and was fighting off a migraine unsucessfully last night. I generally try to avoid making brash posts or decisions while operating at temporarily diminished capacity, but in this un-thought-out hasty and unclear original post, I erred.
I am in no way attempting to feign ignorance of the simple existence of forum descriptions.

I think Spongemom found out the hard way that there’s a pretty vocal number of cat [del]freaks[/del] lovers here. Some folks think letting cats outside is tantamount to torture. It’s better to train you cat to be an indoor cat if you have the chance, but in many cases, that’s not possible.
I don’t necessarily agree with stuff she did, but Que Sera Sera. She may be a bit ornery, but we certainly have our share of those.

Here is my advice to both spongemom and Mynn. Stay away from this thread. Read it if you cannot resist (and you should try to resist, you already know what hurtful things people can and will say about you in a Pit thread) but don’t post. Things can only get worse.
Special to Mynn: Nothing you can say will help you. You are gonna get torn to shreds here because you are both wrong and largely incoherent. Plus, you keep saying you are leaving and you never do. You cannot win. Sure, I’ll laugh my ass off as people take pot shots at you but in the end we’ll all just feel dirty.

Frankly, Mynn, like everyone else here, I’m not sure what is it that you’re trying to do. You were frustrated about the Great Unpleasantness, which is plenty understandable. You decided not to renew your membership, which is your entire prerogative. Then you started to spend the last weeks of your subscription constantly pitting the SDMB admins. Why you were doing this given that you didn’t intend to come back, I don’t know, but you were frustrated, and anyway, who can stop you.
But now you’ve subscribed again, to make cryptic posts pitting the admins (again) about I’m not sure what? Really, why do you care? If the SDMB sucks so much, what are you doing here? Are you trying to open our minds to the truth, or are you just being a jerk?
Frankly, I like this place. As a relative newbie, I can’t tell if it was really better before, like many people are saying, but I like it right now. If you don’t like it, find a place that satisfies you better. The SDMB is just a message board, it’s not the Instrument of the Lord that has to be brought back on the good side to pave the way for the Advent of the Eternal Kingdom. I’m sure there are plenty other message boards that are as good and that you’d like better.

TD’s situation spiralled off the board, much shit happened that had IRL implications, and most threads pertaining to it were deleted.
SM’s situation apparently went off board, with the possibility that shit could happen IRL, but no threads/links pertaining to it were deleted.
Hence, in Mynn’s view, the twee jackbooted ones are employing a double-standard towards TD and SM and that sucketh mightily.

Yeah, I’ve noticed, once wrong, always wrong, in The Pit. Yet another reason to be unhappy that the thread was not only locked, but dragged here and ultimately unlocked. No matter how far back you back up or explain, or retract/recant, et cetera, you’re fucked.

Explained above. I had left in the face of what I’d seen as the old mods club and some pretty rotten actions, then I saw worse and realized maybe this place wasn’t as bad, in comparison.
