Spontaneous Internet Explorer Font Change?

Out of nowhere, the font of text in my internet explorer has changed to larger, thicker font. I’m not sure what it is or what caused it. It might just be the same font zoomed-in more. But how to I change it back?

Bah, could some mod fix that spelling error in the title? Sorry. Thanks.

Maybe this is what happened: if you have a wheel mouse, if you press your ctrl key at the same time you’re scrolling, the font size will change. Try it and see. Otherwise, if you don’t have a wheel mouse (and assuming IE is your browser), on the menu bar go up to ‘view’ then ‘text size’ and change it back to the size you like.

Was the change across the board?

Are you running IE6? - I have the same problem; often it’s when I make the smallest change to any of the internet settings (this can be just changing ‘always dial’ to ‘dial on no network’, or just deleting the temporary files), but it also happens spontaneously - the font size reverts to medium; you can change it back by View/Text Size/ on the IE menu bar, but it keeps happening and it’s annoying the hell out of me.

This happens a lot with IE6, but I used to have the same problem with version 5 as well. Anyway, the usual culprit for this is your email program. Are you using Outlook or Eudora? They can change your font without your permission.

If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use
Tools-> Options->Viewing Mail and uncheck “Use Microsoft’s viewer”
It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:
[HKEY_USERS.Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
“IEFontSize”=hex:02,00,00,00

Or if you use Outlook:
Tools --> Options --> Mail Format --> Fonts --> International
Fonts, and for each font
change the “Font Size” entry to your desired size.

In Outlook Express, the Font Settings are under Tools --> Options --> Compose --> Font Settings

Yeis.

Boscibo: You’re right, thanks. Thanks everyone else too. This question has been answered.
