I finally got Spore working, thanks to the advice given to me by some other Dopers, and I’ve started creating.
I have two creations that I am proud of.
A giant tree. It looks like a big tree, and when it is Epic-sized, it actually takes a second to realise what it actually is. I was just wandering around in creature mode, heard a crash, looked up, and saw a tree running towards me.
It is sooo cool.
A weird, f-ed up mutant mess, with limbs that nearly intersect. Just because its weird.

Unfortunately Spore won’t work on my computer so I haven’t gotten a chance to play with it yet. I was amused at the various ‘penis creatures’ that made it onto youtube though. I’d probably start with some sort of turtle creature, and try a few popular cartoon characters, before exploring more original stuff.
They aren’t on the Sporipedia for some reason, but I managed to get the tree one uploaded

This bird came at me as an epic once. Breathed fire. It was awesome.
These two are some of my favorites. I preferred to make “plausible” looking creatures. The latter was apparently well received. Hm.
