When I was a kid I used to see these films in which the camera was attached skiers, surfers, sailors (I remember one with catamarans) etc and had a voice-over. They were famously made by a particular filmmaker whose name escapes me. I’d like to see them again. Anyone out there know who I’m talking about?
I suspect you are thinking of Warren Miller.
I think you’re right. Thanks, Lord Derfel! Now to see if my local movie guy has any of them (fat chance, eh)?
Warren Miller is great. I bought the 4-pack of his available DVDs and they are good, I could only watch 3 of them before I got too depressed about not being able to go skiing. Unfortunatly, his son seems to be doing the majority of the voice overs now. The cinematography is still second to none, but Warrens voice just has a hypnotic quality to it.
Do it now. Otherwise you’ll just be one year older when you do.
