Damn, I can easily make two Simpsons references based off the OP and the first reply.
“It’s a beautiful day, Milhouse. The birds are singing, bees are trying to have sex with them, as is my understanding.”
And,
“Hey Apu, you got any of that beer with candy floating in it? You know, Skittle-Brau?”
“Such a product does not exist, I think you may have dreamed it.”
“Oh, well in that case just give me a six pack and a couple of bags of Skittles.”
I can tell it’s spring because I painted my toenails last night. After first removing the bits of leftover polish from last October.
Also, I unpacked the kids’ summer clothes this weekend. The older one has outgrown everything from last year and requires a whole new short-sleeved wardrobe.
$0.99 cent a pound asparagus is in the grocery store.
It’s Good!
Now is the time for the annual real eggs Benedict, and weekly trips to the garden to see how the Rhubarb is coming along.
I visited my friends’ greenhouse on wednesday. They had four flatts of large full flowering crocus in one section. It’s good for me to go see the stuff in quantities I can’t afford to buy, when nothing is blooming in the wild. They’re starting the cole crops in the stand alone greenhouses, and some annual flowers in the starter equipment are just a week old, so not much color yet. All the Easter lilies ar doing fine, and the Easter mums also. Some baskets are planted, and cutting being started. They will be getting in a lot of cuttings and bulbs to plant soon, so we have the May flowers. They’re finishing up their odd jobs and leisure activities, because in a short while they’ll have to work their butts off, without a break as will all us gardeners. Yah. I couldn’t wait, so I have a couple lettuce growing in two pots. I’ve almost finished sepperating and packaging the seeds I collected last year. I’ve been sorting the tubers and bulbs while cleaning up the dead stuff.
50°+ here for the last two days. My co-worker and I were wondering if tanning while surrounded by 4’ tall piles of snow would increase the tanning rate, due to reflected light.
Oh, me too. To hell with the flowers, bring on the wind and the lightning.
blondbear, my husband made his annual trip to the Harley dealer yesterday. He doesn’t even have 1000 miles on this bike and he wants a new one. “It sits easier! They’ll give me money back for the unused warranty!” Which you’ll give them back in interest and finance charges, you foolish man!
We had 68F for a long time today. I got the dead grape vines and the fruit pruning done. The redwing blackbirds were doing their song, and tail jacking today. They sing and the tail is up in the cocked position and then flip it down. I enjoy the blackbirds. I also got the Digitalis (foxglove) plants cleaned up and the dead ones tossed. The spring birds are taking up territory already.
In LA, it’s been in the 80s during the day and in the 60s at night, warm enough to sleep with the windows open. So in the morning, I’m awakened by the birds singing in the tree outside the window. With daylight saving time, I’ve been up to see sunrises a few times this week.
I hate all of you. We had a lovely weekend, and then four inches of snow. To be followed with very cold this week. Spring doesn’t settle in here until May, and even then, it usually snows a couple of times in May just for shits and giggles and to kill all the new flowers and buds. I want green, and I want it now!!!
Our warm bit is a couple days of warm weather followed by cold. It was 68F yesterday, and less than half the yard didn’t have snow. There are stll piles multiple feet deep. We’re just ignoring those spots and working with what we have in Wisconsin. Some teens were trying to catch carp yesterday, so everybody’s doing a short trial run of their fun spring activities. We shall have snow again I’m sure.
The local weather guy finally hammered down the in like a lion out like a lamb for March, that I get sick of being quoted as gospel. They mentioned 30 years and 20 years during the live report, so I don’ty know exactly how many they looked at. Only 3 years matched that perl of ignorance.
