Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization (I have Verge duty) followed by first Sunday brunch. After that much sloth and uselessness shall ensue. Since we’ll eat big at church, any other need to feed will be via forage. Sounds like a plan to me.
red yay for nana! Also yay for you for gettin’ the ball rollin’ on this.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose purtification for deheathenization must commence. Bein’ as early as it is I actually have time to sloth a bit.
Crashed early, slept pretty well till around 4, gave up around 6 and here I am. Critters have been tended, I popped some DayQuil (doggone little germ machines masquerading as grandkids gave me their crud) and I’m caffeinating till FCD decides to get up. I have no idea when he came to bed - I was kinda dead at that point.
Once he’s up and we’re properly attired to venture forth, we’ll grab a McBreakfast and make the (I hope) final trek to Oxford to get his car. It’s gonna be $$$ since we have to take the truck and it gets lousy mileage. Oh well… gotta do what ya gotta do. Anyway, apart from that, I foresee a day of mostly slothage. At least I hope so.
If Accuweather’s extended forecast is to be believed (she says, stifling a snort of derision) we’re finally done with freezing overnight temps. I need to get my spider plants out of the basement and back on the porch. Maybe tomorrow? I also need to prep the veggie patch in the hopes of a better harvest this year. And then there’s our cruise in less than 2 weeks - we’d like to get our second booster before then, so I need to make an appointment, probably at CVS because the county site is booked solid thru next week.
doggio, does Alex prefer lager, pilsner, stout or ale? :d&r:
unknown, dementia is a bitch. I feel like I began to slowly lose my mom 15 years before her passing. There were times at the end that a spark of who she once was would come out, but they were few and far between. Hugs to you.
dicey, I don’t know what the thrift / consignment options are in Switzerland, but I’ve bought some quality business and dress clothing over the years here for pennies on the dollar. Your hubby may be able to find what he needs without breaking the bank.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and will be somewhat slothful for a bit until time for KP.
Yesterday turned out busier than I thought it would. My son-in-law and granddaughter showed up to deliver one of the planter boxes he built for me. It’s big and heavy. I knew he was coming, and I just expected one of us would help him carry it to my backyard, and away he would go. Nope, He decided he wanted to get us some pavers too, so off he went to Lowes and Home Depot to get some pavers and some peat moss to mix with the topsoil he’d brought. While he was gone, I cleared and leveled the area where the planter box was going and he came back to finish that up. He and my husband carried the pavers back (big 2 foot pavers). He then filled my box with the topsoil he’d brought, the peat moss, and the bags of really good planter mix I already had. I’m ready to head to the nursery.
He hopes to have the second box done soon and then we can install that one too.
I’m sorry to hear about your mother unknown.
Congrats on the new responsibilities shoe!
I’m glad everything leveled out with the boat, FCM. I am sure you’ll soon both start really enjoying the boat. It sure does look nice.
We committed an unpardonable sin and ran out of doggy ice cream. Polar was not amused and pouted for a good hour. We have plans to pick some up today.
It’s supposed to be very wet, windy and soggy through Wednesday. Right now it’s dry out and I am hoping the rain holds off until I can get the lawn mowed this morning. It’s pretty long. I had visions of getting that done yesterday, but the planter box installation along with visiting with my granddaughter kind of blew that idea out of the water.
We can’t get a second booster until the beginning of June, so we’ll just have to hold off until then.
Well, I suppose I should finish my coffee and start some general tidying. We mostly cleaned up after Zoe’s visit (put away the toys she dragged out), but I need to put the crayons, coloring books and papers away. I also need to put the trike away.
Morning all. Today is First Mowage day, I think I will try and do it early, around 10-11am, then have my Sunday dinner later in the afternoon. Still might work a trip to the gym in, but given the refereeing Sattiday and mowage today, I am getting some exercise for the weekend. Heading for 66F, so a good day to be mowing (beats doing it when it’s 90F).
Taters, sounds like SIL is adequately trained to be a good one, hope the plants grow well.
Dicey, sorry for the drooling, I do tend to try and be moderate on my ice cream intake (don’t keep it in the house, usually only go once a week, get a ‘regular’ -size cone (still 3 scoops). But damn it’s good…
OK, pills taken and newspaper rescued, so onward into the day.
Boosted my booster Friday afternoon (4th jab of Pfizer). No reaction unless I poked the injection spot really hard, so I quit poking it hard.
Heading off soon for my grandma play day with the grand babies. My daughter texted me yesterday to bring all the papers so she can help me do my taxes. I’d rather have hot pokers shoved under my fingernails but she controls my access to the grand babies so gathering my tax papers I am.
Back from Oxford. Wouldn’t you know, today there wasn’t a breath of air, and the bay was almost smooth as glass… Oh well, it’s done, and we’re done with that yard (I hope.) FCD sent the manager an email last night to tell him about the a/c flooding incident, as well as recap our various little complaints about the whole process. We’re going to have to have the a/c serviced now to be sure it’s working - they were supposed to have done it but now we don’t trust them. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of his email. But as of this moment, we’d not recommend that yard to anyone.
I need to clean the critter fountain, and I think I might go outside and start readying my veggie beds - they both need weeding. Plus I’ll start some seeds since I have some potting soil and small pots. I think that’s a plan.
Howdy all. The plan is family dinner with my sister and her kids at my folks. We’ll let my dad spend time telling family stories to the grandkids, and then they can play games before dinner.
Got our vax tanks topped up today, so we’re good to go if it doesn’t kill us. Sold our Tommy Bahama beach chairs today, also. Nice chairs, but it’s getting to the point where I need someone to bring in a forklift to get me out of the damn thing.
Had cornmeal pancakes this morning, which was a bit of heaven. Lamb chops and broccoli is on the menu for tonight. I’m making jambalaya tomorrow to use of what’s left of the shrimp and chicken in the freezer, along with some Spanish chorizo in the other freezer. Tomorrow morning will be my orange zest French toast, which is some damn fine eatin’.
It’s a lovely, sunny afternoon out. When I took Nelson out for his afternoon walk, Nana was walking Molly and Nelson greeted her with doggy kisses. She seemed calmer than she did the last time I saw her. Nana said that she thinks her son is just about convinced to go to treatment, so that’s a plus.
Smothered chicken, rice and fried cabbage for supper. Once KP is done, I’ll wrap the major project up in the studio. This has taken about a month and a half to complete, but they look nice.
We’re both scheduled for our 2nd boosters tomorrow - FCD gets his at 8 in Leonardtown and I get mine at 2:15 in Mechanicsville. His is Moderna, mine in Pfizer, so different locations. But we’ll be good, so yay!
I did clean the critter fountain, then went out and picked up pizza. Other than that, I’ve done nothing. Chillage is good!
I normally don’t gush over babies but at church this morning there was a beautiful infant girl who was being baptized. She was in a pretty, lacy dress with a pink bow on her head. She lay there in her folks arms and never let out a peep, except for one little cry when the water went on her scalp.
I spent time yesterday doing a variety of things but I always had a loaf of bread rising, three total. I volunteered to make the bread for Sundays in April, for the church, as we use real bread, not the small wafers. Wafers may be easier to handle but they taste terrible, at least to me.
Weather outside has been peculiar. It had been predicted to be clear and warm, but while not cold it’s been cool and overcast all day.
I really need to get off my butt and get a booster shot scheduled. I had the original two shots of course, but no booster.
When I got home this morning I found that somehow, once again, Mauser had got a package off of my kitchen counter and had eaten ten or so Girl Scout Peanut Butter patties. I’m debating whether or not to feed him his regular supper. Suppose I should, but the vet said he needs to lose a couple pounds. I wish I knew how to install a camera as I still can’t imagine how, with his short legs, he gets stuff off of the counters. Maybe he and Atilla have a deal, but Atilla never seems to be interested in anything but his own kibble.
And a good late afternoon to everyone. Mowage was accomplished at Black Sheep level (three bags full of clippings) and then made time to go to the gym and push a few weights and do 30 minutes on the bike (only did 30 minutes Firday, so I owned the time). Then bathed and went to Logan’s Roadhouse for their meatloaf (but they still have the waffle fries, which I don’t care for). Now in and nothing much on the schedule until tomorrow.
Cupcakes, do they just tear a piece of bread off to give to the parishioner or do they have the pieces cut up. And yeah, the wafer is the most taste-less thing I ever had.
Been there, had to leverage myself out more than once. They may find my skeleton one day in my sectional that I was unable to get out of.
BBBoo, hope your play date was fun.
Everyone have a good evening and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
baker, aren’t the peanut butter patties chocolate covered? You may want to monitor Mauser for the effects of theobromine poisoning. I do agree with you about the communion wafers though.
cookie, I’ve sat in chairs that I just about needed a derrick to get out of too. No fun.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, brunched, napped, and slothed. Also the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. All in all not a bad Sunday.
Taters how dare you run out of doggy ice cream! I am sure that Polar is righteously indignant, and rightfully so.
MetalMouse happy first mowage day. I did that on Tuesday and can now hear the grass growin’ and gettin’ ready for the next time.
Boo happy time with the grandkids day. Be glad you have a daughter who wants to tackle your taxes. That sounds all win-win for you.
MOOOOOOM the yard needs to know. If necessary we can send in the Pointy Stick Wieldin’ Sri Lankan Ninja Spiders for emphasis.
Sunny perhaps a family dinner like that will do your dad some good.
I need to schedule my booster. I also need to get some meds refilled. Mayhaps that can be a two birds with one stone thing.
Communion Wafers are tasteless to me. Does that mean Jesus has no taste? What? I already have a VIP handbasket reserved.
Well, the first time I tasted a wafer was at my confirmation, when I was in eighth grade. My thought was “This tastes like Elmer’s Glue”
Our pastor was not a guy with much of a sense of humor, but during the instruction in confirmation class, he did make a joke about how, when we’d get one on the individual cups, not the chalice, we weren’t supposed to toss it off like it was a shot of booze.
In reply to Stainless Steel Rat: The pastor tears off pieces of the bread. When the liturgy is begun the loaf looks whole, but has been cut nearly in half, and when we are given a piece it’s been pulled out of the center. And now that I think of it I have never tried to find out what happens to what is the hollowed out crust.
