It’s possible. As I alluded to in the OP, it’s really easy to spoof and/or forge a wedding registry. I would walk into almost any large department store and register as [just an example] one of the Bush’s daughters with a groom’s name of one of the Kennedy boys. Given that this storey was big on Valentine’s Day, it’s possible it might be a joke.
The news articles on the web all seem to be quoting each other. No new news since the original article with only the “friend” and the registry. One example article is here, the last two paragraphs discuss another similar case resulting in marriage. WTF are these people thinking?
You still don’t get it, do you? The two situations you describe don’t compare at all. There’s a world of difference between twelve and fifteen and between a prostitute and a teacher.
Vili wasn’t a horny adolescent looking to enjoy himself on a trip. He was a sixth grader who got touched inappropriately by his disgusting amoral shithead teacher. And now he’s a twenty two year old with elementary aged children.
Go read the link I posted. Your “feelings” and “impressions” of these laws are completely wrong. This was not a sweet and wonderful experience nor is it for most children. The consent laws aren’t in place because some people are “busybodies.” They exist to protect children.
Letourneau was not an older woman doing a kid a favor. Like others of her ilk she was a rapist and a sexual predator.

Communities and families trust teachers not to become emotionally and sexually involved with their children. I was a teacher. It is against the ethics of the profession for good reasons. It can and does often do a lot of damage to many people when it happens.

I think it’s not that uncommon a guy experience, although my mate who got himself trapped by an aggressive Times Square hooker seemed thoroughly put off by the whole thing. However, I’ve not heard from him in 20 years plus change, and he may have got over it.
