Is that or is it not Battlestar Galactica?
No idea, as I’ve never seen seen or read Battlestar Galactica, but that book sucks. And blows. Simultaneously.
It certainly seems possible. It appears to be upside-down on the Star Trek cover, but that’s reasonably close.
Not quite as rip-offish as the opening battle of “Space Mutiny” (in which actual Galactica stock footage was presented as original work), but close.
Well, the Star Trek guys needed some payback after Pel Torro’s masterpiece (look at the third and fourth images).
Amazing! Even worse special effects than the Original Series!
Heck, if you want to talk rip-offs, compare the Naboo Royal Cruiser to the SR-71 Blackbird.
I built that model, back way back when.
And I can tell you for a definite fact that the image on the ST novel’s cover is
unquestionably a dead-ringer for an upside-down Battlestar.
Incidentally, there are a number of official underslung Federation starship makes that look an awful lot like a right-side-up Battlestar. The Akira-class, Norway-class, Steamrunner-class, and the Danube-class runabouts bear more than a vague resemblance.
Damn…Danube-class runabouts.
I was going to mention those runabouts. It looks like they chopped the back end off the Galactica, and took a few support posts off the nacelles, and viola! A Trek shuttle.
