I was bored the other night and made one on last.fm. There are a few ‘Irish’ songs on it, but mostly I went with the titles of the tracks just for fun.
Gallo – St. Patrick’s Party
Tom Jones – Green Green Grass of Home
The Pogues Featuring The Dubliners – The Irish Rover
Willie Nelson – Whiskey River
Cab Calloway – Pickin The Cabbage
Reel Big Fish – Beer
Against Me! – Pints of Guinness Make You Strong
Dropkick Murphys – Kiss Me, I’m Shitfaced
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Another Drinkin’ Song
The 5.6.7.8’s – One Potato
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes – Rainbow Connection
Bruce Springsteen – It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City
One of the local radio stations celebrated St’ Patrick’s Day yesterday (it was moved this year, of course, due to conflicts with Holy Week) by playing Green Day all day long.
That’s what I’m listening to right now Next up: Morrissey “Irish Blood, English Heart.” I’m disappointed to discover that “Celtic Aggression” by Tonic is somehow missing from my MP3 collection. I’ll have to rip it again later today.
The Clancy Brothers with Tommy Duncan - Four Green Fields
The Clancy Brothers with Tommy Duncan - Finnegan’s Wake
The Clancy Brothers with Tommy Duncan - Irish Rover
Eric Clapton - *Derry Aire *(instrumental)
Dennis Day - Danny Boy
Alton - *Barbara Allen *(not really a St. Pat’s song, but in Gaelic)
The Chieftans with Sinead O’Connor - The Foggy Dew
The Chieftans with Mick Jagger - The Long Black Veil
“Night of the Swallow” (ok, it doesn’t sound Irish at the beginning, but soon the boys from Planxty and The Chieftains kick in. This is my favorite song ever by anybody.)
