This is the final role call for the October 15th Dopefest for the St. Pete/ Tampa/ surrounding areas.
Please feign a little more excitement than last time.
We will be having a totally happenin’ beach party beginning around 11 am in a pavillion at Ft. DeSoto. Bring punch and pie.
We will be rocking out to the sounds of the ocean and maybe some spontaneous beat-boxing by ShibbOleth.
This portion of the day will be family-oriented, with a bar-b-que and some stimulating intelligent conversation. If you like to eat it, bring it. And for heaven’s sake, bring enough to share.
Following the beach, we will maybe head to a local sushi restaurant to get totally blitzed on raw fish and sake.
After that is the adult-only portion of the evening, with stripping from Lucretia and body shots with bambi. We go where the wind takes us, people.
We haven’t reserved a pavillion yet so more information will follow once we know how many people to expect. So, teeming million Floridopes, stand up and be counted!

I, too, am unable to attend (DRAT!). :mad: I will not be down until later in the year. I hate to miss this one–I really wanted to be there. Hopefully this FloriDope will be such a success that we’ll schedule another one soon! I hope you all have a great time and please post pics!
An old guy in Tampa?! Well, I guess stranger things have happened. But in answer to your question, hell yes, we luvs us some old guys. And I, for one, will definitely be there. Bluesman, if he’s not working, and any Blueskids that I can pry out of the house.
(sigh) I’d love to be there, but I’m at school in Louisiana these days. Next year though, it’s back to Tampa for me. If we can ever get one of these things off the ground again, I should be there.
Yay! Some interest. Yes, anyone feel free to email me. When it gets closer to the date in question, I’ll update everyone on which pavillion. If anybody doesn’t know how to get to Ft. DeSoto Park , this is a .pdf file with a map and everything. Somebody said there is a pretty good sushi place near the entrance to the park. If someone knows first-hand what a good spot is, speak up now.
As for the after party, does anyone else have an idea of what we could do that would interest the largest number of people?
OhFace is sleeping right now (I think). I’ll bring it up to her in the morning. I know the plans for the last one bombed but there is a possibility we might be able to make this one. We’ve been to one dopefest and want to do another soon. There’s one snag, being in the Miami area kinda blows it. I am fully up for a DEEEEEEEEEEP south Floridope in the future if anyone would interested (AFTER attending this one in Tampa of course).
Anyone want to put themselves down to bring a particular item of food? We’re talking outdoor b-b-q type stuff so if you have that one awesome recipe that we must all try, bring it along.
