ST2: The Wrath of Khan on the big screen

TWOK is so well written that the deleted scenes only had to be cut for time. Putting them back would not be detrimental to the movie and would in fact, help add some more depth to the story. If I remember right, there was a sub plot about Peter Preston and Saavik having a relationship. But I think that was only in the novelization.

Peter had a puppy dog crush on Saavik in the novelization. Saavik thought it would be improper to reciprocate, because she’s so much older than he.

Wait, who was Peter Preston? (It’s been a long time since I saw the movie.)

Scotty’s sister’s youngest child. He was a cadet on the Enterprise and rescued an injured crewmate during the first attack but was subsequently injured. Scotty brought his charred dying body up to the bridge - no reason given.

Oh, that kid. I remember that now. Thanks. BTW, who was the kid that Khan grieved over when he died?

Joachim.

Thanks. It may be time to watch that movie again (along with Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which I also really liked).

I shall avenge you!

The only one of Khan’s minions/dancers that got a line of dialog.

Fun Fact: Both Judson Scott and Merritt Butrick were in the same Next Gen episode.

Factory workers work shifts. Military personnel stand watches.

Well there’s something that definitely belonged on the cutting room floor.

Those one-shot characters who spend years to actually apply their specialty should just stay out of the light

Phaser control techs
Geologists
Historians

And available women in Stellar Cartography. Quietly going about their duty, until they meet the captain, and them they have to be shipped off to another post. Why doesn’t Picard leave? Why does the woman have to leave? She worked all her career to be on the Enterprise.

I thought Chekov was The Reliant’s science officer.

According to the Memory Alpha wiki, while on Reliant, he served as the first officer; it doesn’t list a secondary role, such as science officer.

(In the first movie, Chekov was the Enterprise’s security chief and tactical officer.)

No release date yet, but the official Star Trek: Khan: Ceti Alpha V: The Scripted Podcast is coming.

Hopefully, they’ll leave a few of the colons behind.

Yeah - that never made sense to me. In TOS, Chekov would often take up the Science Officer Post when Spock had other duties. I think it just shows that the writers of TMP had no idea what to do with him.

So what was commander Kyle doing on the Reliant? I thought he was the one who gave the environmental report on C.A.5 when the Captain and Chekov are discussing the Minor energy flux reading on one dynoscanner. Wouldn’t that make Kyle the science officer?

Possibly, but that would have required more thought than I had put into the movie.

According to Memory Alpha, he was the communications officer.

OK, I may be conflating his lines with Mr. Beech, another bridge officer.
