Stand Up For The People Of America! - Bioshock: Inifinite Hype Thread!

Its not connected with BioShock really with the exception of certain themes, however I would strongly recommend starting with the original BioShock. Its an experience that you shouldn’t miss out on.

I just did the same thing. None of the packages Steam, etc., were offering really appealed since I already had Spec Ops, X-COM, the first 2 Bioshocks, etc. I didn’t get quite the deal you did (it cost me $63 for Bioshock and TR), but that’s what I get for waiting until just before release. Still a good deal.

I enjoyed the latest Deux Ex and I absolutely loved the Portals, so I’ll pick this up some times. Thanks.
Does PC vs console matter?

I don’t want to start a macro debate or anything. I usually play GTA like games on my console while I play shooters on my pc.

This video review which starts abruptly by Adam Sessler is really good, and is making me really wish I had the cash.

Send me an email.

Rand, if you’re on Steam, I’ve got a free copy of the first BioShock, too.

IGN says it’s better on PC. Apparently, item choice is clunky on consoles and obviously, graphics are better on PC if your rig is up to it. This is one of those games where you may find the graphics to be quite impressive.
Note that I mentioned Deus Ex and Portal because they have aspects in common, there are differences. It is like Portal in its fascinating setting of an experimental artificial environment and like Deus Ex in the importance and quality of the story. The fights are good too, with good enemies you fight with a gun in one hand and a crypto-spell in the other.

Every source I’ve heard says the game is better on PC. Still very solid on consoles but PC is just better.

I greatly appreciate that, thanks. I do believe I’m the same name as I am on here. My picture is an adorable dog.

Miller, thanks for this but I got sucked in by the hype and pre-ordered the game, which came with XCOM. It was Adam Sessler’s review that pushed me over the edge.

Pre-ordered. Waiting, waiting…don’t think I’ll make it tonight but tomorrow (as itsd my one and only day off) should be amazing. I LOVED all the previous Bioshock games and this one is off the charts reviewer-wise, so I feel its a safe investment.

Plus I absolutely love FPS, non-multiplayer PC games, so this is right there in my wheelhouse.

I need to add you to my Steam Friends list to gift it. When you see a strange friend invite, that’s me.

Damn. Stayed up thinking it would be immediately available at 12:01 for pre-downloads. Oh well, tomorrow beckons.

It was available at 11pm CST for me. Played for about an hour so far. Very pretty game. Runs smooth as silk so far on ultra settings but I’m still wandering the city and getting started; haven’t had combat or anything yet.

I’m an hour in (Redboxes in my area had it around 1AM, I was awake so I went to get it so as to not miss out tomorrow, and of course I couldn’t help myself but to play a bit). Game is beautiful enough to look at, but the music really takes it to another level. It’s also pretty evident that the game will focus on some much racier issues than the first one did. Gameplay is pretty much same old stuff so far (haven’t gotten to do any of the rail stuff shown in the commercials), but so far there hasn’t been any hacking (I know a lot of people hated that in the first two). Can’t wait to dig deeper tomorrow.

Is the game causing issues with Avira for anyone else? A DLL keeps showing up as a trojan.

Just played a few minutes. Wow. I was blown away by the launch from the lighthouse and then again by the barbershop quartet on the floating ship thing in Columbia singing “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. How cool was that?

Definitely a creepy religious zealot vibe permeating the whole city. It’d be downright spooky if it weren’t so bright and cheery outside, what with hummingbirds buzzing around and whatnot.

Absolutely gorgeous to look at.

I have Avira and I have had the game installed but locked since Saturday and have not gotten any warnings for what that’s worth. That may change once I actually play it though.

Which DLL is it alerting on?

Loving the game! My only disappointment is the curse of the console save point.

I despise them. Not only that, but on PC they are so quick that I miss them sometimes, So I don’t know if I’m ok to quit or what.

I got the game. Thank you! Tonight, once the baby is in bed, I’ll fire it up.
