It isn’t anymore. I ran the game off-line with Avira off, now there doesn’t seem to be an issue.
I’ve played a bit and now I’m at Monument Island.
I didn’t think they could make the vending machines any more creepy than the “Circus of Values” ones from the older Bioshocks, but they did.
Riding the Skyrails is pretty fun.
Scrambling a guys face with the Skyhook is even more fun. It’s a ridiculously powerful melee weapon too.
I want to play so much…
Bought it. Downloading now. Super psyched.
Definitely plan to get this so I don’t want to spoil it by looking up details, but are there moral choices like BioShock 1 & 2’s Little Sisters/spare or kill choices?
One of my FB friends helped write it, and keeps posting these gushing reviews on his FB feed. I loved the original game, and keep wishing I had the cash to shell out for this one and the time to enjoy it. Ah well…summer Steam sale, I’m looking at you!
Well, there’s one fairly early on. Not sure what the long term effects are, obviously.
So about a peak of 70000 gamers playing this on steam. That’s easily a few hundred thousand sales. Meantime over 2.5 million torrents downloaded. Fuck the thieving pirate scum. 2k will either not port its next single player game or have it run on their servers mmo style.
This shit depresses the hell out of me. To top it off the thieving fuckers are doing nothing but complaining that their fellow pirates are selfish assholes because the vast majority aren’t seeding. No shit sherlock youre all a bunch of selfish assholes that’s what makes you pirates!
That was completely unexpected. Aside from the the obvious, I had managed to keep myself almost spoiler-free, so it was quite shocking to my twenty-first century sensibilities. Kudos to Ken Levine and Co.
pc gaming is dead consoles rule the world!!!
I’m enjoying it. Only difficulty is that I’m playing on Hard (since that was recommended at a few sites I read) and damn, it really makes the enemies into bullet sponges.
There is a vast difference between normal and hard I feel. Normal is a bit of a cakewalk. Was never in much danger of dying. On Hard, I got my behind handed to me by a couple of Columbia’s Finest right quick. Nevermind the fireman guy.
So I went back to normal for a while, but again, it was just too easy. So now that I’ve got a bit of a flow going ion combat, and I’m more willing to move around the battlefield, use the skyway, switch up weapons and Elizabeth is there to help me out, I switched back to Hard. I still die on occasion, but combat feels more engaging, and I’m not dying so much that it feels frustrating. The penalty for death isn’t a big deal anyway.
Got it yesterday (PS3) but haven’t played it yet because the fiancee grabbed it instead. (To be fair, the main reason I preordered it was for her, since she liked BioShock 2 a lot more than I did.) Anyway, she’s been going through on easy mode but I don’t think she’s even made it to Monument Square yet. She’s the kind of person who loves to go down every little alley looking for a single silver dollar and looking in all the kinoscopes, that sort of thing. I’ll probably start playing in a few days. I did go ahead and order the season pass, though it took me a while to figure out where to redeem the promo code from Industrial Revolution. (I was convinced it was going to be an in-game redemption option, not through the store.)
Columbia is definitely a teabagger paradise. I expect the first memes within a week.
Grantland had an interview with Ken Levine yesterday about Bioshock: Infinite.
This is one of those games that I will play for several hours in a stretch, go to bed, and dream about playing it or living in the world of the game all night. It’s kinda eerie.
Would you kindly not start that debate in this thread?
Whoosh. I wasn’t serious.
I’m glad I’m not the only one having trouble with hard mode. I was getting my ass handed to me regularly until I switched back to normal. I get the feeling that, for the early stages, you’re supposed to mostly run away rather than fight.
Has anyone that’s played it thrown the baseball at the mixed race couple rather than trying to nail the announcer? I am curious what the outcome of that is.
The save points are annoying. I played last night until my eyes were bleary and finally gave up and lost 10 minutes of gameplay because I didn’t know when the next save point would be and really had to go to bed.
That said, this game looks FREAKING AMAZING. The save point thing is my only complaint so far.
