I’ve been Downtown (I even saw a picture show!)
Has anyone walked through Bedford Stuyvs alone?
I haven’t. I haven’t even road by mo…tor…cycle…in the raiiiin!

When I was a young’un, I had an absolutely awful prom experience with a girl who lived on Lake Shore Drive. After I dropped her off at home and got back in my car, I switched on the radio…
“And it [was] four o’clock in the morning, and all the people had gone away. Just [me and my] mind and Lake Shore Drive, tommorow is another day.”
I too have been on a corner in Winslow AZ. Nice little town.
Oh, come on, nobody’s been to “New York, New York”? I have been to “Chicago”.
I have been to the locations described by the following classical music:
But enough of these obscure classical music references. Please don’t quibble with me, I know that the composer’s didn’t necessarily give these pieces their names.
I did leave it all behind and flew to Lahaina. Of course the Missionaries sailed there.
That’s about it. Honolulu, HI, Tucson, AZ, Denton, TX, Manhattan, KS. People just don’t sing too much about those places.
Nope, right here in California
Also, I’ve been to the Camarillo State Mental Hospital, which recently has been turned into a Cal State University, amusingly enough, and heard the mission bell, it wasn’t quite desert, but it definitely was a shimmering light on the dark highway.
Local legend has long claimed that that Mental Hospital was the inspiration for Hotel California, true or not, I can’t confirm.
I’ve been sailing a reach, before a following sea . . . on the downhill run to – (San Diego. Papeete Bay will have to wait, I guess. And I’m about 56 feet short of 80 feet of waterline) – nicely making way . . .
And I’ll be in a noisy bar in Avalon this weekend!
Many times I have found myself walking down the streets of Fairfax, California, and yet, I still do not know if God pulls teeth.
I have also been in San Pablo Bay, but I was not fishing at the time.
I make fairly regular trips to Winslow. It’s a bunghole of a town, but it’s a great spot to get away from the Phoenix heat and bustle for a weekend.
Also, from Motley Crue’s “Girls, Girls, Girls,” I’ve been to the Dollhouse, Body Shop, Marble Arch, Tropicana and Seven Veils.
I’ve also, from Zevon’s “Lawyers Guns and Money” hidden out in Honduras (very briefly).
I once shot a man in Reno…
Just kidding,
I did punch a man in Reno once, but he didn’t die.
I went to Luckenbach, Texas, but the store was closed.
Hey I just realized, right now, I’m three days ride from Bakersfield.
I’m often “driving up 85” a la John Mayer in Why, Georgia, Why, but that’s about it.
When I lived in SoCal, I once saw a sunset that can only be described as “bloody red sun of fantastic L.A.” (The Doors, “L.A. Woman.” During that time I was also “on my way back home, up on the Ventura,” or “up on the 101” (Tori Amos, "Sorta Fairytale)
The Wu-Tang Clan song “Can It Ever Be So Simple” states, “Started off on the island, AK Shaolin,” which means they started life on Staten Island, just like me.
The last time I passed thru L.A. I didn’t get “to the Sunset Grill,” but I did “gaze out at the auburn sky.”
“Hey little girlie in the blue jeans so tight
Drivin’ alone through the Wisconsin night
You’re my last love you’re my last chance”
-Cadillac Ranch, Springsteen
Memories of my midwest adolescence with my gf (now wife)!
About twice a week I’m “driving up 85” ala John Mayer.
I have “headed down the Atlanta Highway” although I wasn’t looking for the Love Shack
I have been in “A Rainy Night In Georgia”
I have been “Rocky Mountain High (in Colorado)”
I’ve been to Memphis, so on the way I was “goin’ to Graceland.”
Oh, and racinchikki, I’ve been to about 35 to 40 of the places in Johnny Cash’s “I’ve been Everywhere.”
A couple years on tour will do that to you…
Now this would be quite difficult to acheive unless your wife/girlfriend is ready to give birth and you have a deathwish…
My father was a gambler down in Georgia
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin’ down highway forty-one…
Any takers?
Well, a few years ago, on a trip to the Southern parts I drove from Nashville to New Orleans, the delta women didn’t want no part of me. :smack: d’oh!
My home town! Where’s the truck stop?
As for the OP… well, I have seen Paradise by the dashboard light.
