Got my first bunch of Star Trek episodes on DVD from Netflix, so I’m rewatching all the episodes in order. One odd thing that I’ve noticed though is that the numbering of the episodes seems “off” compared to the order in which they’re listed.
For example, the pilot episode is given number 721 (I think? I don’t have them on in front of me) and the next two are 103 and 104. On the second disc, the order was something like 105, 107, 106, 108. And on the third disc, there was another episode seemingly “out of order”.
Is there a reason for this? The only thing I can think of is that they are numbered in the order in which they were made (with the exception of the pilot) but listed in the order in which they were aired.
Anyone have any insight?
