Farscape Question - No Unboxed Spoilers

I have never seen Farscape, and truthfully, know nothing about it, but I’ve seen it mentioned a few times, so I thought I would try it out with Netflix.

I ordered Season 1, and the discs are (in my opinion) odd. Disc 1 is episodes 1 and 7. Disc 2 is episodes 2 and 4. Disc 3 is episodes 3 and 6. Disc 4 is episodes 5 and 8. And so on.

I only get 3 discs at a time from Netflix, but I figured out a way I can watch the episodes in order, sending things back and getting another disc, etc. However, this is my question. Do I need to? This seems like such a strange way to put the episodes on discs that I’m wondering if it is done on purpose, and I should just watch disc 1, then disc 2, etc., and ignore the episode numbers. Or is the episode order important and I should do what is necessary to watch them in order?

I’d appreciate any advice, and also any theories as to why the discs are set up this way.

That’s highly strange. When I ordered Farscape from Netflix, everything was in the right order.

(except for the end of season 2 - watch out, because of a 3-parter they ended up sneaking the season finale on the second-to-last disc. Auugh!)

How are you determining episode numbers? I’m looking at the box set I bought now, and there aren’t numbers on the discs. First four episodes:

Premiere
I, E.T.
Exodus from Genesis
Throne For a Loss

Does that fit with your info?

Oh, and whatever you do, you should make every effort to watch the episodes in the correct order. You will end up hopelessly lost if you don’t.

Episode guide (no spoilers unless you start clicking links)

Well, I was just looking at the Netflix Queue, which gives the episode numbers for each disc. However, I got the first two discs in the mail today, and they show:

Farscape: Season 1: Premiere/ I, E.T. (Some stuff I’ll leave out) "This disc includes the premiere episode and episode 7, “I, E.T.” "

Farscape: Season 1: Exodus from Genesis/Throne for a Loss (skipping) "This disc includes episode 2, “Exodus from Genesis,” and episode 4, “Throne for a Loss.” "

So it sounds like it is the same as your boxed set, but they are giving them numbers that indicate they were originally broadcast (or filmed?) in a different order.

But, from what you said, it sounds like I should watch them in the order of the discs, since that is what you did and you felt like a different order would be confusing.

Hmm. On preview, I see you have an episode guide, and it would indicate I should go by the disc numbers. I’m going to e-mail Netflix and tell them that the official episode numbers on that site don’t match what they are giving out as episode numbers.

Thanks!!

Netflix sometimes just gets things wrong on their sleeves. Like the one Deep Space Nine disk that listed ‘Captain Benjamin Fischer’ as the station’s commanding officer.

Enjoy your Farscapin’!
