Star Trek: TOS quote help

“We did it. You and me.”

This is a quote used by the new Star Trek slot machine. I recognize all the other sound clips, but this one is a puzzler. It doesn’t sound like any of the main cast, really. Maybe Scotty, but I don’t know.

Any help?

By Any Other Name. Scotty to the bottle of green stuff.

I don’t think so. That one is kinda slurry and drunk. This clip is very up-beat and forward. I thought of “By Any Other Name,” but the inflection is all wrong.

2:55 of this clip has the bit of dialogue I mentioned. If not that, I don’t know. I was always more of modern Trekkie.

If I could hear the audio in question, I could place it.

There are some videos of the machine on youtube. I am on a slow connection so there is no way I can play them all but in case anyone else is curious and feels like investigating:

I wonder if it is something like City on the Edge of Forever or one of those accidentally-screwed-things-up episodes?

EDIT: Oh, but probably not if they sounded upbeat.

Note: the specific video linked doesn’t seem to include the relevant phrase. (Well, there’s three minutes of my life gone.)

“By Any Other Name” is the only episode I can think of that would have that quote. Have to hear it to be sure.

The YouTube clip does feature an actor who is obviously not James Doohan voicing Scotty. Being dead they probably couldn’t get him to contribute his voice for the slot machine, although they could have lifted the line from By Any Other Name.

Slightly off-topic, I suppose, but what the hell is going on with that slot machine? The “wheels” spin, and either the shields go down or you get to shoot something; I got that part. But which combination of symbols count as a win? It looks like if there’s any line from left to right which includes certain things, hooray. Is there any rhyme or reason to it?

As others have said its from “By Any Other Name.”

Scotty gets the Kelvin drunk and he passes out, after which Scotty remarks:

“We did it. You and me.” “Put him right under the table.”

Where Scotty shortly joins him.

As in most machines, it’s any three or more matching symbols on a play line beginning with the leftmost reel–three phasers, three Kirks, etc.

BTW, silenus, I’m up to The Trouble With Tribbles. How far have you gotten?

The machines are supposed to be linked between casinos, but I could never get my medals to transfer. I have 14 at Imperial Palace, 14 at Flamingo, and 4 at Harrah’s. If I ever get them all together, I’ll be one session away from Tribbles. Fun machine. I got luckier on the planet bonus this trip than the Klingon one. Although a guy playing next to me hit 5 Kirks and made the 15X multiplier. Lucky bastard!

Don’t you agree that the OP quote is very up-beat, and not at all the reading Doohan gave it in the series?
