Two years on and we can tell you. He is not even credited on the poster. Good.
New Trailer
Absolutely outstanding.
Ya, that’s going to be awesome.
Loved it.
No one remembers the Jedi or the Dark Side except those that were the heroes in the last movies?
Same damn thing happened between 3 and 4
Remember the guy telling off Vader?
This is nothing like the post-OT universe in the “expanded universe” books. Which may be a good thing. As I recall, the Zahn books (and the thousands of other pulp novels) start years after the Battle of Endor. It’s back to being a democracy, the OT characters are very powerful in the government, etc.
This…looks different. The feel is almost a fragmented universe, where there isn’t some central source of news, and while the wreckage of the various wars may litter the terrain, lots of people have forgotten what they were even about.
O…kay…

But that doesn’t make sense with the characters still alive. I mean, even if you wanted to say some BS about the force extending your life, it wouldn’t affect Han and Chewie.
I mean, this saga was a multi-world battle between a Galactic Empire who was thwarted by an upstart group of random people lead by a legendary “race” of people…I’m pretty sure people would know what happened. Are we expected to believe they just forgot in the last…what?..20 years?
My best guess is that people don’t know details, and the details that are passed around aren’t believed.
IIRC a large part of this is set in an area of the galaxy that is still held by remnants of the Empire that have kept the populace in isolation as to what happened on Endor.
Kind of like N. Korea on the past 70 years of history in the rest of the world.
I’m trying so hard to keep my expectations in check. I was soooo damned excited for Phantom Menace - that was a hell of a trailer and we know how the movie was… And yet, I see this one and I totally geek out… Please don’t disappoint me again!!!
Jakku is probably just as far from the bright center of the Universe as Tatooine is.
I can totally see folks not knowing exactly what happened.
Leia is obviously sad about something.
The dialog implies Rey is the force person, but it is Finn who is wielding the light saber.

How would anyone know that, say, Luke was a Jedi? It’s not as if he went around force-throwing people in the Battles of Yavin, Hoth or Endor. Maybe Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo were remembered as heroes of the Revolution, but who said anything having to do with the Force was common knowledge, even at the time? As far as the public was concerned, Vader and Palpatine died when the Death Star exploded.
I would LOVE to see Jabba again.
After being strangled to within an inch of death, he regains consciousness in the intestinal tract of the Saarlac.
Halfway through Episode VII, for no apparent reason, the scene cuts to Jabba, being digested, checking his watch:
Then he holds the watch up to his ear-hole, and…
BACK to the movie.
This trailer really didn’t grab me.

Got my ticket for 7 AM on opening day on the Imax at Pacific Science Center.
Exactly - the only time Luke declared himself publicly to be a Jedi was in Jabba’s palace., and everyone there is dead now. I can totally see everyone forgetting about the Jedi now.
Not another goddamn death-star!
