Not much to see, but what there is, I like.

It’s a good teaser, in that it just teases, but doesn’t reveal any plot points (I don’t think the fact that Luke is teaching Rey is a revelation to anyone). Except maybe that Luke wants to end the Jedi?

There is no way this is The Last Jedi. There’s to much money be to be made with more sequels.

I like the way the first moment was Rey doing a “distressed pop-up” thing as a call-back to the first moment of the first trailer for TFA being Finn doing a “distressed pop-up” thing.

I think Luke is the Last Jedi. He’ll train her, but the Jedi do not have to be resurrected. I think their ideology was too constricting. He probably tried to train Ben Solo(to become a Jedi) and the restrictions on emotions/attachments pushed him to go evil just like Anakin.

Not this time. Train people to use the Force without the Jedi-stuff.

My hope / guess is that Luke will start a new school of force wielders.

Every Star Wars geek(including me) was holding their breath watching this trailer for the first time. Good thing Luke was reminding us to breath.

Are we sure that’s Luke saying ‘It’s time for the Jedi to end.’? The voice sounds off somewhat.

I donno, it just made me think of Yogi Oki-Doki.

So let’s say Luke seeks to end the Jedi and start a new school/religion/organization for training Force users. What do they call it? “Jedi” is a word that’s become so ingrained in the public consciousness that any replacement word will likely feel silly.

Breathe, people, breathe! “Breath” is the air in your lungs. “Breathe” is the verb.

It is a teaser.

When Luke says, 'Its time for the Jedi to end", there is only an implied period after ‘end’. That is probably not even the whole of Luke’s statement. It is the time for the Jedi to end…something.

Rey is clearly the Last Jedi, or the next iteration of what follows the Jedi. She is the next generation of Jedi, for a new generation of movie viewers. If not there is no reason to ask her what she sees. Light and darkness no longer matter, Luke has given up. I do not believe that for a minute.

The old Jedi have died off or have been killed. The next Jedi will be this strong, independent, woman, who will not let the old Jedi light go out in the universe. The poster is very clear, it does not end here. The old major players are being retired, taken out of the action, but not the mythology of the Jedi history. This was very apparent in the last movie, The Force Awakens.

Or maybe Luke is the Last Jedi and we can just wrap up the whole multi million dollar franchise and go home.

Which do you think is more likely?

A better transcription of Daisy’s quote:

“Rey has a certain expectation of what she may gain(?) from Luke and what that might entail and as a lot of people know it is difficult to meet your heroes because they might not be what you expect.”

I like how the teaser mirrored the initial one for The Force Awakens, with Luke’s voice similar to Snoke’s, the appearance of Rey similar to Finn’s pop up into shot, and the weird ships on the red desert like the x-wings over the lake.

I’m sure John Williams had nothing to do with the music on this trailer, but if it’s any indication, he’s going to come up with even more awesome ways to mix together the Force theme and Rey’s theme.

What if that line comes early on? We begin the movie where the last one ended, so surely there will be a lot of back-and-forth of Luke refusing to train Rey. That line would likely fit in there.

It’s called The Last Jedi because in The Force Awakens that’s how Luke is referred to in the opening crawl, and also by Snoke. It’s not actually about ending the Jedi Order, though I’m sure that is why Luke is in isolation.

Well the big problem with the Jedi was that they dove headfirst into the Clone Wars, were leading the battle and succumbed to/were fooled by the Dark Side. If Luke were to simply rebuild an order that had massive problems with individuals going all dark side let alone being so insular that they didn’t see their own downfall, then what is the point?
