Star Wars Fans Rejoice! You've been recognized!

It says right here that Jedi Knight is now offically a religion.

I guess this finally puts to bed all of those Star Wars vs. Star Trek debates, huh?

No, it isn’t. That article says it isn’t, and so does this.

Crap. Shot down with the first response.

Note to self: If it sounds stupid, check snopes before even bringing it up.

Sorry, all. Go about your business.

This isn’t the census data you’re looking for.

Move along.

You don’t need to see my identification.

I read the article online that said that people in England chose “the force” as a religion. Could it really be any worse than what’s already out there… OK sign me up I’M a CONVERT.

may the force be with you, croaker

d&r

Well the BBC originally called it a Hoax but now are reporting it as a story

They also need to get a few new Star Wars pics

Yer kiddin’ me, right? There’s far more to SW vs. ST debates than religion and lightsabers.

Although we all know that Chewbacca could whup Worf’s ass any day of the week.

NERDS!!

(being a nerd is a good thing, I WOULD be a nerd if I were a little smarter… I’m more like a “dork”)

seriously, though, what would be necessary to make Jedi into an officially recognised religion?

Couldn’t Jedi be classified as a sort of Wicca-type religion? Or doesn’t wicca et al count either?

I WILL KILL THE WOOKIE! RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!

Sorry.

Carry on.

How about a Jedi Master type strangles some dissenting Baptist minister with his Dark Jedi Powers like Vader?

I’d say that would make a pretty convincing arguement.

And here I thought he was going to say that Episode II’s title had been chenged to something less embarassing…

“Attack of the Clones!” Blarg.

Star Wars-Attack of the Clones

Starring: Dolly

Where Jedi are men, and sheep are nervous.

You’d have to actually have some people who, you know, believe in it. Being a Star Wars fan does not make you a Jedi any more than being an Indiana Jones fan makes you an archaeologist.

In fact, is “Jedi” even a religion at all, even within the Star Wars universe?

Considering how many dumb-ass "religion"s I’m expected to take seriously (civility precludes me from mentioning any names) I’m amazed we don’t just consider Jedi a real religion. It’s got just as much philosophy, tradition, and sense behind it as many of these others, if not more.

Oh. 10,000 people or so HAVE put down their religion as Jedi Knight, but the British Census Bureau is putting it down as “other.” They say, just because people say they’re a Jedi doesn’t mean it’s a real religion.

Of course not, silly – nobody has gone to war over the Jedi, have they?
