I was reading the Marvel Star Wars comics I downloaded that came out before Empire Strikes Back, there is one glaring contradiction and one that might be.
1.Jabba The Hutt actually appears in one and he is not a Hutt but some kind of humanoid alien looking much like a walrus(I think we see this species in the cantina).
2.In one Han and Chewie are hiding in an asteroid and the Falcon is attacked by what is said by Han to be a leftover bio weapon from the clone wars(some kind of metal eating mite). This one is kinda iffy because its possible something like this was deployed.
Jabba the Hutt wasn’t the big slug we’ve all come to know and love until Return of the Jedi. From what I understand, Lucas filmed that scene in the docking bay with the intent on inserting something with effects, replacing the actor. He ended up dropping the scene for time and budget reasons.
Lucas has said that he always intended to replace the actor with something a bit more jazzy, but it’s pretty clear that when he shot that scene it was intended to stand as it was - with a conventionally-costumed human.
The original character design makes sense when you consider that he was inspired by this guy from the point of conception. The scene was turned out a bit flat and Lucas already made the sensible move of replacing Jabba with something more exotic: Greedo, going through the exact same dialogue.
In the original novelization of Return of the Jedi, ghost Obi-Wan tells Luke that Uncle Owen was actually Obi-Wan’s brother, who he asked to raise Luke for him. This conversation is after the Anakin/Vader reveal, so there’s no point in continuing to lie to Luke.
And then there’s the whole Splinter of the Mind’s Eye incesty goodness. ETA: That’s actually an original trilogy contradiction though. Splinter came out between the first 2 movies.
