Stardew Valley

I planted a pomegranate tree about 21 days or so. I planted an apple a ways away.

The apple looks like it is growing, while the pomegranate still looks small. I’m thinking to pull it up.

Is there any way to tell if a tree is properly maturing? I made sure all 8 tiles surrounding both were completely clear.

Sometimes fruit trees seem to grow much slower than 28 days. I planted one apple tree in early spring that didn’t bear fruit until the last week of fall. Clearing an even larger area (5x5 instead of 3x3, for instance) might help. I wouldn’t chop it down unless it was clearly not growing at all, like an entire year goes by.

Did you choose fruit bats or mushrooms for the cave? I chose bats thinking it would help fill some of the bundles faster, but as it turned out it really didn’t help that much.

ETA: Oh, and be sure to check the traveling merchant every time he appears (Fri & Sun); he sells a whole bunch of random items.

I suspect that having anything growing within a fruit tree’s 5x5 “footprint” will arrest its growth. This includes acorns and tall grass.

I planted an apple seedling in the corner of my greenhouse, with most of the rest of it planted with ancient fruit. We’ll see if it grows.

I finally found the
Secret Woods.

I just assumed it was unlocked by one of the bundles, that I hadn’t even bother chopping up that log. I could’ve gotten there a long time ago. Although other than getting a Stardrop and that one fish, I don’t see much reason to go there.
Oh, there is a reason.
The hardwood(12 total pieces) regenerates daily. Did you see the two stumps on the southern edge of it?
Oh, man, I just had a great run in the Skull Cavern. It was a lucky day, and I brought some lucky lunches along. I made it to level 67. I got two prismatic shards (my first ones), 62 iridium ore, and a bunch of other goodies.

It’s still mid-winter 2. I suspect that playing into year 3 will largely be an exercise in seeing how high I can make certain numbers go.

“The spirits are mildly perturbed today” has become my IRL catchphrase for anything that goes wrong.

Nice! My record’s level 50 or thereabouts. This guy reached level 404 w/o mods. It does seem like after awhile you’re swimming in so much ore that there’s no point to caving except for the fun of it; except for prismatic shards, of which I’ve only found 3 total.

I’ve just started Year 4, gotta play until Fall 28 to pick up the recipes I missed. Hopefully by then I’ll also find that ONE stinkin’ artifact to complete the museum’s collection…

I’m missing one Dwarf Scroll. Can anything be done to specifically get the game to give that to me? I keep getting the same 3 I already have.

You could check out the wiki page and let that point you in the right direction.

It took me until now to realize that the fridge in your kitchen is a container.

Try using a hoe on those big patches of dirt in the mines. Works best with a gold/iridium hoe on a “very happy spirits” day + Lucky Lunch. There’s a nice big dirt patch at level 93 which is where I finally got my Dwarf Scroll IV about halfway through Year 3 (for earlier scrolls you might have to search at a shallower level.)

Snerk.

I wish they had made the fridge container larger, so you can store all your ingredients there and highlight all the recipes you’ve unlocked. Maybe in a future patch?

And anything in there can be used for cooking. You don’t have to remove it first.

Thanks. I found the first three by random luck. The first one came out of worms I hoed in the town. Yes, worms, not twigs.

Will, after about a hundred trips to the mine I found out you can get coal from those random mine carts by clicking on them.

There’s so many little tricks to this game.

Anyone still playing? I’m in Summer, Year 2 now. My farm has gotten pretty self-sufficient. My only goals now are complete the community bundles (just waiting for my cabbage to come in and then a pomegranate in the fall), make as many friends as I can, and get the achievements (namely catching all the fish).

 1. Can I grow a fruit tree in the greenhouse? I got it built the other day.

 2. If I grow a fruit tree in the greenhouse, will it grow its fruits in any season? Like, will I get apples in winter?

Just started Year 5. Right now I’m mostly grinding for the last few achievements before restarting with a new character. Getting the final museum artifact is becoming a major &*(#@ PITA.

The developer recently announced a major content update, though there’s no timetable yet. I’m very much looking forward to growing my own coffee!

Yes, and yes.

Fruit trees make me mad. I have planted 3 more(not in the greenhouse). All 3 have the entire area around them clear(not even hoed). Only 2 of them are growing. My apricot tree is still a little nub.

Even worse, I think if I did it up, I can not re-grow it. It gets destroyed when you dig it up, doesn’t it?

Make sure there’s nothing behind it, like a maple/oak/pine seed.

Trees can be extremely finicky. I planted two maple seeds a month ago, one is now full grown, the second is still barely a tiny sapling.

And yes, if you chop a fruit tree sapling you lose it. Well, you do get some wood back.
