It had a ten-season run, which is pretty damn good by almost any yardstick. Plus, Stargate Atlantis is still around. I’m glad to hear that they want to continue the franchise in some way. We’ll see what develops.
Let’s not forget that SciFi did save Stargate … after Cinemax tired of it. I agree that ten years was enough. They could have ended it well with the “Invasion Earth” episode, where O’Neill bit the big one running the big weapon.
But they had to milk it.
The show has nowhere left to go. How many times can we have SGC and its alien friends face and defeat yet another galaxy-wide, seemingly invincible foe? Enough.
SG got old quick. After O’neil left it turned to crap.
Atlantis was cool at first but it’s the same old thing.
Sorry, I tried to like it and did for awhile but the episodes were just too redundant.
and bringing in what’s their names from farscape…It would’ve been better if they’d have stayed in character as arin and john.
I really don’t understand the fan uproar. It had a good run and it is getting long in the tooth. As much as I liked Stargate: SG1 back in the day the new episodes after the defeat of the Gua’old (sp?) just seem like re-hashes of the earlier episodes but with a different bad guy.
I think that you’re correct … Showtime hosted SG during its first five seasons. Either way, SciFi gave it five or so more good years, when it really should have departed at around season seven.
Say what you want, any show that gives me more of Amanda Tapping in all her blonde tousled glory is ok with me. In fact they could just have an hour of her walking around in undress greens and I’d be just fine with it:)

I would’ve agreed with you a couple of seasons ago. RDA had pretty much checked out and not much was going on. But I’ve really enjoyed the additions of Cameron and Vala (Ben Browder and Claudia Black) and I think the cast has new energy. I’d like to see another couple of seasons.
