Woo hoo! Looks like Claudia Black will be a recurring character, if not a regular. 
Now if we can get Gigi Edgeley (in black/white makeup, of course).

I’m curious, and hopeful. Claudia Black seemed to play a sort of bounty hunter/mercenary type person.
One of my favorite episodes was the one when SG-1 got captured by that bounty hunter, the one whose species couldn’t be parasitized by the Goa’uld, and was addicted to some weird drug.
Will Claudia Black’s character turn out to be from that race? That would be too cool.
Or is she just another boring old human from someplace or other?
Meh. I don’t really get her. I hate the whole “hot chick bounty hunter/criminal” thing.
Is she famous for some other reason than SG-1? Because the last time they aired that episode (where she stole Hammond’s spaceship), the commercial’s narrator specifically mentioned “…featuring Claudia Black.”
She was the star of “Farscape”. The star , I say!

Well Ben Browder is coming in as a regular character, so it will be interesting to see how they play the characters against each other.
Also, apparently RDA (the O’neal character) isn’t going to be a major character in season 9 (taking over the in-show job of homeland security, the spot that Gen. Hammond held). So wonder what this is going to do to the show’s dynamic.
She isn’t from that race. Her character, Vala, is a former Goa’uld host.
And I, for one, am quite pleased … Ben Browder in an AF uniform … rowr!
She also got a small role as about the silliest looking vampire I’ve ever seen in one of Ann Rice’s latest vampire movies. The one where Lestat forms a heavy metal goth band or some such thing? Queen of the Damned?
I suppose she’s earned a higher billing than poor old Ben, who I haven’t seen do anything since Farscape.
Anyway, I hope they reinvigorate the show, as it was getting a bit tired by the end of season 7, and season 8 probably shouldn’t have even happened. Somehow the show got renewed and the whole season was big “farewell” string of episodes, highlighting each character, bringing back old friends, tying off loose ends, etc. If it weren’t for a fairly exciting pre-season finale with the Goa’uld vs. Replicators, I’d write off the whole season, and gladly see the series end.
But now, I’m hopeful they’ll find some new fun to have with new characters, and let the old guys move on.

And ** Misnomer** yeah, Ben Browder in a tight uniform always makes for pleasant TV.
I’m a latecomer to the whole SG-1 series; I caught the first few episodes on SHO when it first debuted, but quickly lost interest. RDA’s “O’Niel” was too much of a “jerk” for my tastes, w/o Kurt Russel’s “cool factor” to somewhat mitigate the O’Neil jerk-factor.
But the characters “matured” and mellowed over the seasons into a fine ensemble, and I’m now semi-hooked on the series, and catching up on it in syndication. And Amanda Tapping is sooooo hot. Between her and Claudia Black, I ain’t gonna know which way to look. ROWR!
If only Teryl Rothery was still around…
