Stargazer Lilies growing conditions

Or perhaps “Sparkling Lilies” because I understand Stargazers are a proprietary thing.

I got a live plant for my fiancee for Valentine’s Day. The label on them reads “Oriental Lilies,” but because I bought them in a supermarket, there were no instructions on how I should treat them when I want to transplant them.

How much sunlight should I give them? How damp should I keep the soil? Should I even expect them to stick around after the bulbs are put into the ground?

TIA

Because they were forced, they probably will not bloom again this year, but go ahead and plant it anyway and you will probably have a nice flower stalk with lovely blooms on it next year.

I’m cool with that. We’re fortunate that we’ll be able to give them the right soil and sunlight conditions, but the linked article doesn’t mention recommendations for transplanting from a pot to a plot. 6-8 inches deep strikes me as a little too deep.

IME you can’t kill them. If you transplant after they’re finished blooming, I’d break apart the bulbs, discarding/composting the soil from the pot and bury the bulbs six inches. Mulch heavily, don’t overwater.
