yays boos and hugs for all that need them …
I’m melting … yeah I feel better in the heat than I do the cold but aunts not getting the AC on til cousin cleans out her room so we can move the packed up boxes in her soon to be empty room … cause the swamp cooler leaks in the house occasionally
when we do move if the new place don’t have central heat and air I ain’t going,
Aunts in a good mood since her favorite niece came over and she found almost 400$ she stashed and forgot about that or someone was going to pilfer it and she beat them to it …
did get annoyed at del taco tonight… usually there better than taco hell but tonight i ordered the 3 meat burrito and got chicken, bacon and gristle that was supposed to be Carne Asada and instead of my nice big cherry coke (one of the reasons i eat there is they have that and barqs root beer when most places don’t ) and gave me Mr Pibb extreme … blech i say
When i had to cancel the order the first time cause the delivery driver blew a tire should of been a warning sign …
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. No plans for the day at all. Sloth and Netflix shall ensue. OK, I will make sup, which I reckon is a plan of sorts. Sup shall be beef stroganoff (should that be capitalized?), sallit, and rolls. Haven’t made beef stroganoff in a looooooooooong time.
Cookie hope your neighbor is better today.
Miss Owl what fantastic news about your friends and those two girls!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Cookie, hope the neighbour shows signs of improvement today. Daughter, however, needs a smack round the face with a wet fish. She’s dumb as a bag of hair.
OW, thanks for the good news, think we could all do with some of that these days.
Nothing exciting happening here. I am sure I posted something yesterday on here but I can’t see it, maybe I forgot, maybe the hamsters ate it…who knows? Anyhoo, last night I attended a proper storytelling event which was good fun. The same guy is doing stuff over the weekend so I will most likely sign up for the Sunday event as I’ve got something else at the same time on Saturday.
I had a skype meeting with my boss this morning, she has had some drama on the street where she lives so she wanted to tell me and the other assistant manager about it. There have been long-standing problems with a neighbour who moved into the house where boss lady grew up and where her mother lived until she passed away a few years ago. Boss lady and her family live a couple of houses along the same street and have had problems with the new tenant of the house since she moved in. There have been nuisance issues, identity theft problems, anti-social behaviour problems and the most recent one from yesterday involves a van with a couple of guys coming and going at all hours of the day and night, dropping pallets on her front lawn, threatening one of her elderly neighbours…end result was that the council (who own the property and rent it out) received several complaints about the woman (and her three feral kids). Yesterday, the van was reported to the police as the driver was suspected of drink-driving…it was stopped not too far away by police and an armed response unit and they found a quantity of guns in the back. Eeek!
So that’s the excitement in her life. My only excitement is unloading the fridge-freezer and moving it outside to defrost overnight as the new one arrives tomorrow.
It’s raining, further proving how unreliable my various weather sites are. Roxy just got up, and she’s now having a bowl of cereal and some blueberries. **FCD **has a meeting at 9:30 this morning, and SIL said he’ll take trash and recycling. Yep, exciting times at FairyChatEstates.
I may go wild and strip… the bed…
Incidentally, gotti, I’m good with cooked onions. One of my favorite sides is sautéed onions and mushrooms with sour cream. I just don’t like the texture or the bite of raw onions.
Morning all. Up at 6am, so nappage is a probability. Need to venture outside to take care of some banking later on, but other than that nothing much on the agenda. Cool now but heading back up to 81F today according to the weather folks.
Boo fae, sounds like boss lady has some excitement in her life.
shady, Purp, you don’t have A/C? I thought most everyone had it by now. Didn’t have it when I was young, still wondering how folks survived summers for all those centuries…stay cool.
Butters, good wishes on diet and job.
Nettie, well done on the foraging; William T. Sherman would be proud of you…:D;)
OK, I think I need to organize a couple of BLT’s for sustenance. All y’all have a good Thorsday.
It’s a rainy morning.
We had to leave the park early as an unneutered male came in.
Echo was mad because she wanted to play with Toby, both dogs were happy to see him again, however I’m sure play time would have turned into a different kind of play.
I got my new phone yesterday, took hours to get it set up and I still have some things to do. When the text messages were copied over the transfer includes years worth of text messages that were deleted a long time ago. I have to go through and delete all of them.
Crazy busy around here lately, and always some glitch in the system so nothing can be easy.
Glad hubby is home Butters. I hope the salt substitutes are better now than they were back when my father was on a salt free diet.
That stuff was pretty yukky back then.
swampbear, set another place at the table for me! I dearly, dearly love beef stroganoff, and I haven’t had any in ages! LOTS of mushrooms, please!
~VOW
I needed to make a quick run to Food Lion for FCD, and I figured I’d get some turkey bacon while there (Hush - he likes it.) But there was none to be had. Nor were there frozen burger patties! And they’re constantly out of paper products. It’s insane…
I just finished re-sheeting the bed, then I closed the house and turned on the a/c. It’s not terribly hot yet, but the humidity in the house registered 74% - that’s just a bit too high.
I’m thinking supper will involve chicken - I’ll yank some out of the freezer. Other than that, it’s max chillage for a while.
Neighbor update: he’ll be in ICU for a couple of days and then moved to genpop. He’s been kept sedated, and the wife and daughter were able to see him via Zoom. The docs won’t know if any rehab will be needed until he’s back among the conscious. The daughter is wearing a mask at all times, so that’s something positive.
metalmouse, I really wonder how women coped in summer in the era of corsets and multiple layers of skirts. Men probably had it a bit easier.
swampy, what time is supper? Stroganoff sounds great.
Dragging DH to the orthopedist today, but will not be able to go in with him. He can only have one person accompanying, and that needs to be the nurse case manager for this visit, since she needs to participate. I’ll deal. At least I have a day away from Hades Annex, which is getting rather more hellish with a bunch of newbies at other locations who can’t get basics right to save lives.
Projected third or fourth day in a row of triple digits (whether Moanday counted depends on the source). Probable thunderstorms Saturday morning, which is going to make sleeping in a problem.
Carpenters haven’t been back yet, which is a minor annoyance. Not so much because I care when they come back as that I don’t know. I’m told every day to expect them and apparently they could just all pop up at any moment. It’s not a huge deal because I’m not exactly going anywhere, but it is annoying. Like I get up at the crack of dawn to be prepared for them, keep the kitchen all shoved to one side, keep the animals confined, send the kid to her uncle’s… annnnnnd… nope. Nobody here. It’s been rainy, which apparently is the (understandable) reason, but I pointed out yesterday that there was rain in the forecast for today and was told they’d be coming anyway. So far, there has been neither rain nor carpenters. Tomorrow, no rain in the forecast, so… we’ll see.
Yesterday, got a grocery delivery and the guy put half the groceries- including the frozen stuff- on the other side of the door where I couldn’t reach it. Long and humiliating story short, I tried to work out a way to bring it in, screwed it all up, and ended up taking a fall and stuck on the floor with my frozen food while my walker was outside the door and I didn’t have the strength to pull it in/up the step. Had to call for help, tried someone I thought might be right across the street, they weren’t, but they made up some reason why they were totally headed my way anyway and drove 45 minutes to come help me put my groceries up. I feel like a fool.
I am very, very unwisely tempted by the idea of taking bottle feeder kittens. I have the time and I dearly, desperately need a little sunshine in my life, but… it’s just not doable for so many reasons. If I were able-bodied and/or if I had more reliable support and/or lived in a less chaotic household, maybe, but… as it is, no. Still, every time another set in need crosses my Facebook feed, I think “what if…”
Dot, glad you are OK. Falling and not being able to get up is not a good feeling. Glad you have some great friends. And yeah, you need to be settled down before you take on a responsibility like that, but once things get a little normal, I love the idea.
Nettie, as I think I’ve mentioned, I lived in Abu Dhabi for 4 years (97-01) of my life. Over 100F eight months of the year, and summers were near 120F. I never understood how the Arab women managed in the head-to-toe black Abaya’s they wore every day. Hope DH’s appointment went well.
Cookie, glad neighbor is responding and daughter has some common sense.
Wet one, in college we had a softball team called the Master Batters. When asked how they were doing, they’d reply “we’re stroking the ball pretty good…”
Rain has come and gone and banking is done. Since I had taken the time to clean and dress properly, I decided to do the June stockage grocery shopping today instead of Saturday as planned. Actually found everything I had on my list and the stores were 80% masked, so most people are not being asses…yet.
It had been three days. He’d gotten well into the “testosterone stank” phase and had been wearing the same nightclothes all day long for two of the three days. I drew the line this morning when I noticed he had a sweat mark (I hope) between his ass cheeks as he was walking downstairs to get on his laptop for work. He looked all sheepish, turned around and grabbed a towel and washed. My day is officially looking up. I hope like hell that this doesn’t keep up.
They had him back on Zoom and he was awake. He’s in restraints, as he pulled out one of his IVs. Doesn’t make him happy, apparently. He was awake long enough to tell his wife that he has a job for her to do, then fell back to sleep. A doctor told them that there is still bleeding, which doesn’t sound good.
I got a text on my phone today telling me something like “This is no joke, and if you don’t respond within two days, I will make your life a living hell. I know all of your contacts and I have all of your Facebook information, and. . .” I quit reading at that point, deleted the text and blocked the caller.
All of my FB information? Well, have fun with that birthday factoid, dude, cuz that’s all the info that’s on my profile. I guess you can call my kids; heaven knows I don’t do it enough. Maybe you could send them a few bucks. Other than that, I’m not sure what you’re expecting to happen.
Mrs. Plant (v.2.0) and I had one briefly. We very quickly found someone more competent that we. Three Ante Meridian, he begins screaming for food. “OH MY GOD, HE’S DYING!”
I took him to work one day, and my Boss helped feed him when he screamed. Tough duty!
butters, you may find it wise to find a good butcher. The one that I go to has mostly locally grown (many organically) product or seafood that has been flown in in the past two days. It’s amazing the difference in taste.
{{{dot}}} Be careful, right now isn’t a good time to wind up in the hospital.
The Zoom meeting from hell went surprisingly well this morning and, bonus points, only lasted 70 minutes. Then, I had a meeting with the grandboss, the old bat and our cycle counter. The coordinator is out and awaiting the results of a CV19 test (I’m worried about him; he’s only a year out of heart surgery), it was month end with boucoup second counts to either void or have one of us do (the cycle counter can’t do a second count on something he did the first count on). So, I spent the next five hours playing Tarzan in the racks of the warehouse. We got all of the second counts done and less than a dozen became third counts. I gave instructions to the cycle counter to have them dropped by the time the old bat and I come in tomorrow so that we can make quick work of them. I’s taherd!
If the coordinator tests positive, I’ll likely be irking from home for two weeks, ordering in groceries, postponing the oil change scheduled for Saturday and worrying that I may have inadvertently passed cooties on to my friend on the way to the eye doctor yesterday (and, through him, everyone in the VU Eye Institute). Oy!
