Goodreads is a site where you can track what you’re reading and what you want to read. (I’m a recent convert from Chain Reading because Goodreads has more features.) It’s similar to Shelfari, Chain Reading, Library Thing, and many other book sites.
One feature is groups, where you can get or send updates to your own reading list or discussions, add books to a group shelf, or just see what people you kinda almost know are reading.
As a lark, I’m starting an SDMB group which is open to anyone who wants to join. Go here if you’re a member of Goodreads.
I think the site is pretty user friendly, so the only tip I have is to use the bookmarklet on this page to speed up adding something to a shelf when you are browsing Amazon.
It’s a nice site and resource, with or without groups.
I joined. jsgoddess, we have the Dresden Files series, the Vorkosigan series, and the Little House series in common, plus some books by Margaret Frazer, Sharan Newman and Connie Willis.
It was doing that for me too, guys, so I think I might be the one who broke it. I still got to confirm my e-mail address and complete my profile, though.
Amusement: I signed up as “Miss Purl McKnittington,” which means the confirmation e-mail was sent started “Dear Miss.” Hee hee hee.
i’m in too. I’ll have to do this after work though as the federal government does not allow my computer to look at such websites. This one is okay however.
I think that adding people as friends will make it so that you’ll see their updates when you log in and you can set it so that you receive emails with their updated lists.
I don’t know if there are other benefits. Nor do I know if most people would consider my updated lists to be a benefit!
