And lets not forget how civilized advertising was way back when! No making fun of white males as ignorant tools! No sir!
You’ve got to be kidding me! Those look bogus as hell.
For one thing, the woman in the first picture looks too modern for such an ad, and the man’s clothing appears way more dated.
And in the second, Cream of Tartar is morphed into Scream of Tartar. A gag, I suspect.
Care to post any cites as to just where these ads actually appeared?
Wikipedia’s article on Chase & Sanborn states
The article is uncited, so I don’t take it to mean anything. A google search yielded this.
Again, not conclusive evidence for or against.
Further searching revealed a site with lots of old ads, including the spanking for coffee one. It’s about midway down on this page. Another favourite here.
An unrelated favourite: http://pzrservices.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2007/10/01/soda_ad.jpg
So it looks real, from what I can find.
Took you all of four minutes to ooze some more drivel shortly after the above declarative mantra: “I am a Conservative with a productive life outside this Board.”
And no, I am not bring whooshed in the least – it’s just that now that you’ve been called out on your faux IRL BS, you’re desperately trying to make light of it. To no avail of course, for you remain the utterly brain-dead caricature of what you try to portray.
As Frank mentioned upthread I am rather mystified this thread has gone for as long as it has – can’t imagine why anyone would give a flying fuck about what you “think.” Misnomer right from the get go as it is obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together that you’re missing at least one. Being kind as is my nature of course.
Bye the bye, I am in a rush as I have the busiest of liberal days tomorrow. It involves caviar and babes of course, as that is the only way we lefties conduct business. Hard work I must say.
Never you mind though. I’ll raise my latte-drinking pinky on your behalf while toasting to your soon to be anachronistic* irrelevance. Just don’t wait up for a response to whatever inanities you may come up with.Good time as any to get your Conservative ass busy. For real.
*both in your pathetically laughable ‘recall’ of yesteryear and in your selective indictment of today’s society.
That said, Mr. S, surely you have better and far more worthy adversaries than these particularity dogmatic monkeys sans a brain,a.k.a., turdllectuals.
As in Sans Stone, the Kanadian Man-'O-War behind his monitor, Uber-Manly Scylla, him of the peerless daughter, openly racist SS Polecat, bat-shit mad Starvin, parrot-like Magellan## and countless other Right-tards.
But hey, great to have you back – perhaps there are still windmills to tilt at if only for the benefit of those not in the know. And no one better to set them straight than you.
Cheers,
~Red
Wow. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
The comment was in reference to the need to go out and do some work vs. shooting the shit on a message board; it had nothing to do with politics.
I could write a few pages about the horrible, horrible, horrible perversion of Japanese values the pre-WWII Bushido code was. Suffice it to say that xenophobia to the degree that cannibalism is routinely carried out is not a good thing, and the Japanese Army that fought in WWII is not the same one that beat the Russians with such skill and honor the Russians saluted them. Tojo is a lot more like a neocon than anything else I can describe.
I mean, among other things, innovation, inspiration, and dignity for every man. I don’t mean the government made this country great, I mean that the people made this country great. (Even if a sizable percentage of them were assholes.) Government budget doesn’t matter there.
You’re not Starving Artist, now are you? For you, it’s part of your code. I don’t say a single bad thing about it for you, Lucy. You’re not a hypocrite.
He is.
I think, if I remember and have the spare time, (hey, what can I say, I admit, I’m human), I should start a thread about what the New Conservatism should value. Basically, ‘Take the Libertarian Party, and throw out the moronic shit.’
Of course, what, precisely, consists of the moronic shit, is, ah, extremely subject to disagreement.
Fair enough. I did have a look at Bob Barr’s website and while I agree that the PATRIOT Act is an abomination against all that America stands for, that we meddle too much militarily in foreign affairs and that the Federal Government ought to shut up about marriage, the thought of leaving monetary policy and welfare systems to the whim of the free market - especially these days - fills me with horror.
