StarWars fanwank question

Is Death Star 2 larger than Death Star Classic? There isn’t anything to give much of a sense of scale except the super star destroyer going in at the end of ROTJ. The crawl tells us it’s more powerful, but says nothing about size. How (or why) would it be more powerful anyway? The original can puree a planet, what else do you need-an ‘atomize’ setting? Maybe it has better engines or armor. I certainly hope they fixed that exhaust port problem. More speed or protection would of course a require more powerful reactor which would need more internal space. Can anyone provide a canonical answer, without resorting to that namby-pamby Expanded Universe stuff? We’re stict Star Wars constuctionists in this house, mister. And keep your damn banthas off my lawn, I just fixed the vaporator! Stupid kids and their Rebel Alliance…

True, but when Darth Vader takes Luke’s hand in TESB, there’s no blood at all, and the stump is burned black.

'Zactly. Hence my comment about the plotoanium crystal.

Performed an apprendectomy, you might say.

Ability to target capital ships on the move, with a respectable rate of fire.

When a few of the Mon Cal cruisers got hit is when they said they wanted to withdraw.

I just realized, reading that, that Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama has ruined my mind’s ear for Admiral Ackbar…

I remember in some EU thing it was supposed to be “twice as big”. Of course, if they mean twice the diameter it’s even super mega huger. However, if it’s twice the volume the diameter would have increased by very little…

Isn’t that a bit like saying the new anti-tank cannon is more powerful than the old one because it has a semiautomatic croquet mallet? I see your point though, assuming that capital ships were in fact a threat to the Death Star to begin with. Do they ever show anybody actually shooting at it? They were probably too busy trying to keep stricken snub fighters from crashing into the preposterously underprotected bridge.

Also, I think one of them hangs a little lower.

You misspelled “Star Wars.”

I’d assume they were a threat when it was under construction, what with the shield and armor not protecting huge swathes of area.

Well, shit, that just shows you’ve never seen ME really terrified.

That’s what the shield generators on Endor were for…before their renovation into the first part of an environmental disaster the likes of which no small arboreal moon could recover.
