State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman Trial Thread

I felt along that GZ owned some responsibility for what happened but there was not enough evidence to convict him, so I agree with the verdict.

Having said that, I hope he finds some other line of work as far removed from law enforcement as possible. He is clearly not cut out for it.

Moral of the story is to make sure you beat the creepy ass cracker to death. Then you get to claim self defense and walk away free as a bird.

Yep, time for the lap band procedure. Drop the weight and grow out the hair. Get into a Hispanic community. I’ve heard he’s fluent because his mom speaks Spanish.

I’ve heard that people acquitted on self defense have immunity in Florida against wrongful death civil suits? Any confirmation on that?

I see that the racist Al Sharpton said after the verdict was announced that he will be on a conference call with the family and will be pushing a civil suit. Is that what you would consider normal?

This Black chick on MSNBC straight lying. Sanford isn’t “conservative”. Maybe west of 17-92 between 27th and 1st street, but not as a whole.

Meh. GZ will get his civil immunity.

Sharpton and Jackson can find another family to exploit.

No, if the system worked as it is supposed to Zimmerman wouldn’t have been charged. The legal system shouldn’t be beholden to mob rule.

State prosecutors are often a joke. I hate state courts for that reason, among others.

I disagree - there was enough ‘question’ that this case needed to get in front of a Jury - that IS the system - anything else and its too easy to claim the cops 'turned a blind eye.

Then they should have taken it to a grand jury.

No one who followed this trial will ever from this day forward walk into a situation similar in any manner to the one George and Trayvon did without thinking about the potential repercussions that each position may face. If they do so with full consideration of everything good and bad that may happen then something worthwhile, while it came a tremendous cost, was learned here today in this most otherwise regrettable of tragedies. I hope there’s that, awful as everything else will remain.

I don’t disagree with that.

I think other wannabe armed vigilantes may take this as license to follow “suspicious” young men in hoodies. I hope not, but I think there’s actually lots of young (and not-so-young) men who really want to shoot a “bad guy”.

I wouldn’t want to be in Shellie Zimmerman’s shoes now. She’s got a perjury trial coming up. I got a bad feeling the state will slam her with the absolute maximum allowable. IIRC perjury has a pretty wide range of penalties depending on the judge’s sentencing.

If they can’t get George than they’ll bash his wife as hard as they can.

And now all those who so passionately wanted him convicted despite Florida law, can/should turn their attention to improving those laws that they feel resulted in a travesty of justice for Trayvon.

I’m not going to hold my breath though.

As the case was presented to the jury, there really was no other logical verdict.

I doubt that anyone is interested but,

I’m one of those people.

CMC fnord!

Same “blood in the streets” prediction as when all these states passed their concealed carry laws. It got old the first time it didn’t happen.

:smack:

I sure hope you’re right!
