Loved it. He did great by clearly, energetically condemning Jan. 6 for what it was.
He did fine in calling out the hypocrisy of the Republicans suddenly opposing their own immigration bill, once Dear Leader chimed in. I just wish he’d pointed out that native-born Americans are more prone to violence and murder than foreign-born residents – that getting angry because one particular murderer happened to be an undocumented foreign-born person (and thereby condemning a category of people) is no more logical than getting angry because that person is left-handed, or wears a bowtie.
When did this bullshit nonsense of opposition response start? I don’t remember it in the 80s and 90s…
Who gets to choose who does it? It’s almost always some low-level moron like this no-name from Alabama. Why don’t we ask that fucking moron Mike Johnson for his RESPONSE to the speech, and not a pre-written pseudo-response from a talking head?
Why is she harping on the Linken (sp?) Riley murder? “Killed by an illegal immigrant!” Why does she ignore all the school shootings committed by Americans?
OMG. Who is this stepford wife giving the Republican response? If things are so bad, why is she smiling so much? Is it bad that I snorted when she said her children were named Bennett and Ridgway? Also, if she wants the border controlled, why did she vote against the bipartisan bill? I really want to punch her. She is complaining about a retiree who has to work to afford his medication. Gee, I wonder which party wants to cut Social Security and which one is working to lower prescription costs? She’s complaining about Putin being aggressive while her candidate told him to go ahead and attack NATO countries.
This needs to be hammered home often and loudly and specifically about each one of them
“ you don’t care about the gun violence and you voted against every initiative to solve these immigration/ freedom/deficit problems “ with dates and details on what unrelated side issue they were holding out for.
One of my favorite moments of this speech will be when Joe was talking about the border bill the GOP wouldn’t bring to a vote and was listing all the things it would accomplish. The cameras cut to Sen. Lankford (R-OK) who was the chief GOP negotiator on this bill as he mouthed “That’s true”.
I was teaching during the SOTU, so now, at lunchtime, I’m scrolling through the full text of President Biden’s speech. I love the fact he called out those traitors in the opposing party for their craven attack on our democracy and he correctly described Trump.
