Firefly marathon with the family.
After wrestling, we switched to Adult Swim until about 11:55, then I frantically clicked around the broadcast channels looking for the Peach Drop in Atlanta. Ended up with a split screen between the Peach and Times Square hosted by Carson Daly (my husband said “Carson Daly? Really?” He’s not very festive.)
After gorging ourselves on wings and pigs in a blanket, played monopoly with some of the kids. Turned on the ghost of Dick Clark at about 11:45.
I spent my evening here on the Dope, totaling entries in the Death Pool game.
Was getting set for bed a little before midnight, but then started chatting with my niece on Facebook and ended up staying up for another half hour or so. Besides FB, I was also reading the SDMB and the WordReference “English Only” forum.
Three Stooges Marathon, featuring a Stooges dancing mash-up set to Gangnam Style.
I had a long trip home today, so I was in bed by 11pm and not watching anything. It means less and less to me as I get older to actually be awake at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Watched the second half of Return of the King.
Spent the day watching DVDs then turned to the Fox News feed from Times Square at 11. The Million Dollar Quartet and Pat Benatar were likely much better than whomever ABC had performing, given that last year ABC had Lady Gaga.
Moving to Cafe Society for you (where I assume you meant to put it).
Do you honestly prefer III to IV? I haven’t played III in ages.
Our township had its fireworks on 12/31 since it was too dry on 7/4 to set them off. Actually, that was pretty nice. Less crowded, zero mosquitoes, less riff-raff, and able to get back at a decent hour.
Twilight Zone marathon and played the freebie Duke Nukem that was a Christmas freebie from an online game company. mrAru played XCom - Defense. Cat slept all evening after trying to shark some of my chicken from dinner.
I did an all day, all night *Freaks And Geeks * DVD marathon. Fantastic series, first time I’d seen it. I was so engrossed I barely noticed the fireworks and gunfire at midnight.
Pretty much this. Then watched the local equivalent for my time zone.
Eh, I go both ways. IV has some great ideas, but sometimes I don’t feel like trying to race to found a religion or corp. I vastly prefer the controls in III, as well.
I watched a Portlandia marathon on Sundance. It was like watching a documentary of a certain demographic.
I’d never seen it before, but a new season starts Friday so I’ll DVR that.
We were tunneling through a lot of recorded stuff on the DVR, largely “Untold Stories of the ER”, except for about two minutes of ABC’s coverage of the Times Square ball drop. Mostly, I picked that one (DH didn’t have an opinion) out of habit, but with Dick Clark not there any more, I think I’ll maybe try a different one next time.
recommended!
I was asleep.
Earlier I’d watched His Girl Friday and All About Eve, both on DVD, for a “working dames” theme evening with my sister.
I’m pretty sure I was under my blankie on the couch watching the last season of The Walking Dead (they promised a marathon and only showed the last season) but I fell asleep. Woke up to the sounds of fireworks in the distance about 12:10 a.m. but dozed off again until morning.
