Steak and French fried potatoes

Potatoes? I like my steak with a side of Ribs.

Your cite says, in part

Note the word allegedly. A historian who throws that in is no historian.

Cutting potatoes lengthwise and frying them, almost certainly, doesn’t occur until the 1800s. They were usually cut in rounds from the natural shape of the potato, then fried. The lengthwise cutting of fries almost certainly comes about sometime in the late 1800s-early 1900s.

a historian, I’m sure you can take that up with Mr. Gerard. Sliced length-wise you get rounds, but insightfully turn 90 degrees, and cut again you get the rectangular or square fries we all know and love. I sure some inventive 1600’s Belgian or Frenchman discovered this. Cooks quicker too!.

Cut the citations some slack; go out and get an order of steak and fries. After all, living well is the best revenge!

French fries my arse !!

Steak, chips, onions, mushrooms and a sliced tomato is the only way to go. You could also top your steak with a fried egg if you’re feeling especially piggy

By chips I mean English chips, big fat fuckers.

So there.

Whoa ,big fella!! Only difference between “English” and “French” is the cut. The rest of the goodies on your plate works for me.

So there.

Vive la Difference !!

Or words to that effect

Innit?
