What is your favorite type of French Fry?

Doesn’t matter where you get it or if you make them yourself, which type of fry is you favorite?

Thick and greasy.

Mozzarella.

Waffle cut didn’t make the list?

Shoestring, ala McDonald’s.

That said, the pinnacle of all fried potato-based foods are Arby’s potato cakes, which, when freshly made are proof that we are in the best of all possible worlds in the hands of a benevolent and loving God.

Alright - what communist voted for curly fries?

Mmm pressed mashed potatoes for me, please.

Belgian double fried.

Oops. I knew the list seemed a little short.

End thread.

I am a lover of all fries, and enjoy them equally.

Sing praises to the people of France and their gastronomical creation!

There was an episode of Carnival Eats that featured a vendor who built a curly fry slicer. Similar to an apple peeler but it reduced an entire potato to one long ribbon.
2-3 of those went into the basket to fry and were served as one basket shaped block.

That would be me, comrade. Mmmmmmmm, spicy and twisty. . .

I voted for crinkle-cut, but my all-time favorite fries are the ones served by 5 Guys, which I expect the FDA to add it to the list of addictive substances.

Skin-on, somewhere between shoestring and steak in size.5 Guys would actually be a good example, but I’m not sure if they quite qualify as shoestring or not–there seems to be a bit of variation in the understanding of this word when it comes to fries. I would normally have called those shoestring, but in another thread here on the Dope, many Dopers seemed to reserve the word “shoestring” for truly thin and long fries, more like this.

Yes, that’s it. McD’s fries are about the only thing I can eat from that joint. Thin, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. And they don’t last long before they get soggy and inedible. Just the right amount of salt, and you’re in Fries Heaven.

Steak fries, to me, are just chucks of potatoes. I’d rather have a baked potato any day than steak fries.

The pile of potatoey goodness in the link is what I generally think of as shoestring and why I voted for curlies. I’ll take McDonald’s or Wendy’s above all else, but I tend to think of them as “regular”, or the default.

“French” fries may actually be Belgian rather than French. Though, apparently, this is subject to some controversy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_fries

I voted for steak fries, though I love them all. And I don’t understand the hate towards curly fries.

Mon dieu!!!
