What is your favorite type of French Fry?

Steak Fries. A little greasy, and a little undercooked.

Good lord! That’s not potato, it’s Cousin Itt!

  1. They are usually “seasoned,” rendering them inedible.
  2. The texture is all wrong for a fry. They lack the crispy exterior and are just blandly uniform.
  3. They are messier and pick up too little/too much mayo/ketchup/whatever on each dip.
  4. Their structure enables fast food places to give you less potato in each serving.

Aren’t they sometimes sort of breaded?

Red Robin completely messed up their fries by putting some sort of god awful seasoning on them. It’s all you can eat, so I guess they are saving money on people asking for seconds.

Anybody remember Rojo Potatoes?

Something about a crispy crinkle cut fry…yummy!

Which starts an entirely different hijack - is it “rojo” or “mojo,” and what’s the difference?

Would you like curly fries with that, sir?

All fries are good. My mood determines what I get. To me it’s more about the sauce.

Carne asada.

I voted for steak fries because my first choice, tater tots, is not an option. :dubious::slight_smile:

Ah, literal steak fries!

None of the above.
Fries should be limp and with the appropriate amount of oil, but not too much oil because the fry guy knows to keep the deep fryer hot.

Why dubious? Tater tots are not French fries. It’s not a general fried potato product poll.

The design of the fry is irrelevant. All fries are, or can be, wonderful. It’s all in the cooking techniques. In a perfect world where all fries were cooked equally well and tasted equally good, though, I’d probably opt for crinkle cuts.

As long as they’re crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, it works for me. I’m not a fan of soggy fries - if you were going to let them get soft, just bake them.

I’m a big fan of GOOD steak fries, but most of what I seem to find is big, non-crisp fries.

Seems to me that the poll needs a 5th option to encompass the “standard” fry that’s about 3/8" square and 4-5" long, not the 1/4" square ones from McDonald’s or other fast food joints.

Those if well prepared are second only to well prepared steak fries.

Re: Red Robin seasoned fries:
They’ll make them for you without seasoning. All you have to do is ask. Added bonus, you get them fresh made.

All of this Fry-talk gives me a hankerin’ for a tornado potato (as seen on the wiki page).

Tater tots.
