Steorn Orbo demonstration.

Apparently, last Saturday (January 30, 2010) the Steorn people gave a demo of their Orbo “over unity” device. Here’s a youtube video of it (or the first part, as the title explains, I haven’t watched any other parts): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkKPfhQgEVk

I don’t pretend to understand anything that’s going on or being said in the video, or anything to do with the laws of thermodynamics, but I understand enough that what they are proposing to accomplish isn’t possible.

I’ve followed the whole Orbo thing loosely (mostly by threads on the SD) because let’s face it, it’s kinda fascinating, but also cringe-worthy because this stuff is so far impossible. So are the Orbo people carrying on like George Costanza when he lied and said he had a place in the Hamptons, but Susan’s parents knew he was lying but refused to call him on it, so he just took it farther and farther, escalating the situation trying to force it to come to a head?

I’ve never really been able to satisfy my own mind about what they’re really trying to do with this Orbo nonsense (i.e. Is it a barefaced scam, or are they just earnestly wrong).

Howeverm Steorn also makes electronic test equipment that works in a conventional non-snake-oil manner - in fact, that’s their main business - Lately, I’m thinking that Orbo is an advertising programme for the rest of their business.

And here I thought they would just fade away after the “jury” found it didn’t work, and the failed tests about a year or a year and a half ago.

What amazes me more then anything else is people still give them press.
