That’s a horrendous toll on the cast, I can’t think of anyone from TNG who’s passed away.
It’s what I waited for most when I rewatched the series.

I was reading some biographical info about him on the Internet Movie Database. It’s already been mentioned all the weight her lost, but it said between the third and fourth seasons of B5 his kidneys both failed. Dialysis probably wouldn’t have kept him alive that long, but a fan was found who offered one of his kidneys and since it matched, well, we had Furst for over twenty more years. Also, a news story has listed his death as being from complications related to diabetes.
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life!
