Wire fraud and money laundering. He and two other guys are accused of using money from their “We Build the Wall” non-profit group for personal use.
Did she seriously suggesting executing him, or was in meant to be funny?
Question- why isnt Bannon in jail for this?
Bannon is just a weird fucker altogether. He’s former navy, Harvard educated - wealthy and obviously pretty bright in some regards. But I guess to use Scaramucci’s parlance, he started sucking his own dick and liked it a little too much.
Bannon - Best looking guy in the liquor store at 2am.
Because he hasn’t broken any laws?
Here’s what he actually wrote:
I’d put the heads on pikes. Right. I’d put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats. You either get with the program or you are gone.
As awful as it is, it’s clearly not an actual incitement to violence, at least not within the scope of criminal laws.
Kathy Griffin’s stunt, while she’s claimed it was supposed to be a joke, seems a lot closer to a death threat against a Federal official. Saying “Put their head on a pike” is pretty common hyperbole; holding a bloody, severed (prop) head, not so much. Still, she’s not in jail. The only thing that happened to her is her career cratered because private individuals and businesses exercised their freedom to disassociate themselves from her.
I beg to differ. Sartorial laws of layering prohibit wearing one button down shirt over another and anything more than 4 layers means you are homeless vagrant wearing everything you own, probably trespassing.
Is this one of those Deuteronomic prohibitions about mixing two kinds of cloth? Or more like the injunction not to mix plaids with stripes?
Well, he certainly has and he is likely headed for federal prison, altho not for this comment- yet.
On August 20, 2020, a federal grand jury indictment was unsealed against Bannon and three others, charging them with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Each charge has a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison upon conviction.[239][240][241] Federal prosecutors of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York allege that Bannon, United States Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage and the two other defendants used funds received from the We Build the Wall fundraising campaign, marketed to support the building of a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, in a way which was “inconsistent” with how they were advertised for use to the public.[242][243][244] According to the indictment, donations were collected through a GoFundMe campaign that was launched in December 2018.[245][246] Bannon promoted the project until the day before the indictment, saying “You’ve been the leader of this, assisting President Trump in building this wall in these tough areas” in his War Room: Pandemic podcast.[247][248]
Federal prosecutors allege that Bannon and the three other men conspired to use a non-profit group run by Bannon, and a shell company controlled by one of the other defendants, to make payments to themselves, despite promises to donors that their contributions would go to build a wall. Prosecutors also alleged that Bannon received more than $1 million in connection with the plan, some of which was paid to Kolfage in secret[245][240][241] and some of which Bannon and two other defendants allegedly used for personal expenses ranging from paying off credit cards to personal travel.[249] Prosecutors stated that they plan to seize the assets of Bannon’s non-profit Citizens of the American Republic, as well as other organizations “politically aligned with [Donald] Trump”.[250] Bannon was arrested by U.S. Postal Inspectors on Long Island Sound, off the coast of Connecticut,[251] on board People’s Republic of China expatriate Guo Wengui’s luxury yacht.
Ok. I thought you were specifically referencing his Twitter comments, the actual topic of this thread.
That is why I added “altho not for this comment- yet.”
But not only is he a despicable low life, he is also a thief and a con.
The Money laundering charges are gonna stick, they nearly always do. I should know.
His name will be among those in the enormous tranche of pardons that is coming. Let’s hope there are some back-up state charges.
Moderating:
Don’t be a jerk. No warning, but don’t do it again. Yes, it was probably intended as a joke, but it is not funny.
Yes. It took a minute, but I found this in Twitter’s policy page on enforcement:
Makes one wonder what you’re like when you’re not MildlyAnnoyed… AngerIssues?
We may never know.
I am much more than mildly annoyed. If another mod hadn’t suspended you I would have considered a permanent ban.
