steve buscemi, classy guy

No offense to Wumpus, but I thought I’d repost that link

I’m so glad it’s true, thanks for the link Wumpus (and Crunchy).

In a small perverse way, I’m glad Buscemi’s a fire-fighter and not a medical technician or something. He’s played such scary mo’fos I’d have pee’d my pants if I’d woken up on a gurney and looked up to see the guy from Fargo or ConAir.

You thought Buscemei was scary in Fargo? A bumbling fake kidnapper who wound up on the wrong end of a wood chipper?

It was the other guy I was scared of. Buscemi’s character was just a loser.

But anyway, I’m very pleased to see this story confirmed. I’ve always liked Buscemi; now I like him more.

Let’s try one that WORKS!

Help, please – how does ones pronounce Buscemi?

Hey Fiver, haven’t heard from you in ages! How you doin’?

In terms of scary I was thinking more of the serial killer in Con Air. However, I don’t think I’d want to meet the guy from Fargo either. Has Buscemei every played a nice guy? Hummmmmm, maybe the director in Living in Oblivion .

There’s a list of his movies here,

I had not idea he’s done so many.

Donny in The Big Lebowski was a nice guy, if not overly bright.

Ghostworld!

I was listening to an interview with Matthew Broderick on NPR late last week. I don’t believe he’s a good enough actor to fake the misery in his voice. However, he does live near there and he does have a dog and tragedy or not, dogs need to be walked. Now, if you lived near there and were walking your dog, would you not go anywhere near there? At all?
Just because he’s famous, does that mean he has no curiosity or feelings? sheesh…

I am certain that his anguish is genuine, because we are all anguished over this, and I actually think Matthew Broderick is probably a genuinely good guy.

I think if that were me, I would stay far from the site, and if spotted by a reporter I would decline comment.

I think what made me feel sick, was not so much that they were there but that it was reported as though they had shown up at a premiere or something. It just seemed so out of place in a story about tragedy and heroics to suddenly encounter a paragraph about celebrities walking their dog. This is all imperfectly stated and probably a touch incoherent because I don’t want to say something terrible about Matthew Broderick, not knowing the guy, but something about it made me uncomfortable. Maybe it was just the way it was reported…

Could well have been - I only had the radio interview to go by… Goodness knows, the written word can be inadequate in certain situations…

The Devil’s Grandmother:

Uhh…fine?

…I’ve posted every day this week, mostly in this forum. I don’t understand your comment.

I think Buscemi usually plays nice guys, even when he’s a criminal. Check out Reservoir Dogs and Trees Lounge for examples.

Cool. He’s a great actor, too!

I always thought it was boo-SEE-me, but I heard someone at an awards show say boo-SHAY-me.

And I pronounce it boo-SHEE-me. shrug

No matter how you say it, the guy is a class act. I’ve always liked him as an actor, but this is too cool.

You da man. Buscemi. You da man.

I think I recall seeing an interview with SB where he was asked the same question about how to pronounce his name. He related a funny story about how one time he called, I think, a hotel he was staying at and asked to be connected to “Steve Boo-SEM-ee’s room or asked for his messages or something, and the desk clerk haughtily replied that he obviously wasn’t really Mr. Buscemi because if he were, he would know that the name was pronounced Boo-SHEM-ee.

I’ve always said it as:

Boo-SHEM-ee
