STFU and GTFA, Sarah Palin

:dubious:

Since when was there some random plumber in the public eye?

Hold it — I thought that Sarah was Trig’s grandmother, and that rumors to the contrary were part of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy. Do I need to have my tinfoil hat retuned, or what?

Doctor! My brain hurts!

This is too good.

I’ve never seen a photo of Young Trig (nor do I want to), but I hope Li’l Special Needs Kid is better looking than that superimposed face -of -whoever!

Look at it this way. Sarah Palin had to keep a watchful eye over Russia, but that problem is apparently wrapped up because she has nothing better to do than to play Mama Bear to her cubs. If Russia is out of the picture, what else does Obama have to do?

I guess I’m more surprised that Sarah Palin has nothing better to do. Guess she figures she has enough executive experience and that Alaska can just handle itself.

I know she’s a dimbulb and a public figure, but I’d be pretty pissed if I had a child with Down’s Syndrome and someone in the blogosphere used an image of my child to convey…mean-spiritedness? comedy gold? Whatever.

She’s certainly reaping what she’s sown, but I think at this point that all the running commentary involving her kids is a little beyond the pale. Attack her for everything else, there’s plenty of ammo there as is.

The Letterman joke? Misunderstandable and done by a very public figure. The altered picture of Trig with a radio hosts face over it done by an internet blogger? Nuh-uh. As the blogger said, it’s a joke about Sarah Palin and Eddie Burke unless somehow Mr. Burke’s face is insulting to people with Down Syndrome.

I think Mrs. Palin needs to go back to her hobby of shooting wolves from helicopters. It actually manages to be less annoying than this shrill outrage she’s picked up.

There’s really no reason to go there though, is there? Altering a photo of a kid with Downs Syndrome is just meanness. I know the interwebz thrive on it, and I generally laugh along with everyone else, and maybe I’m being too sensitive (and I’m certainly not defending Sarah Palin herself), but aren’t there many, MANY other ways to make fun of this numb cunt without resorting to something like this?

Isn’t this the kind of distasteful bullshit that people claim to hate WRT politics in general? It’s a cheap shot, I don’t care who’s face is superimposed there.

There’s plenty of other things that people can make fun of an ADULT Sarah Palin for. Just leave the poor kids out of it already. Enough is enough, no?

This IS a whoosh, right?

Please?

I’m not the artist in question here, but I’d just bet that the only reason that the photo of Sarah with Trig (speaking of meanness) was used was because it was the handiest or most appropriate photo of Sarah Palin holding a baby. I can see getting this offended if the photo doctoring were of Jimmy or Timmy from South Park over Trig’s face, but in this case the point of the joke is clear except to those being willfully obtuse. Said blogger isn’t making fun of Trig. Simple as that.

Well, thanks for the veiled insult, but I still don’t really see the point of bringing a Downs Syndrome baby’s image into the equation.

I’ll now bow out having expressed my summer of discontent.

My apologies. The insult wasn’t aimed at you but rather at Sarah Palin who seems to be maintaining publicity by taking offense at everything.

I think it’s kind of refreshing to see a pubbie stand up for political correctness. Maybe that’ll be the path they have to take in order to win back status as a national party; and Sarah could be leading the way!!!

The Downs Syndrome thing is kind of irrelevent though unless someone is just looking for something to be outraged by. It’s a photo of her holding a baby. Someone made it look like she’s holding a baby Burke.

I’m sure someday she’ll be the first one playing the “How dare you treat my child differently!” card so let’s just cut to the chase and treat this like a photo of Palin & a baby rather than Palin and DOWNS SYNDROME BABY.

I agree she’s over-reacting, but I can see where she might be a LITTLE over-protective of Trig.

+1 for its just a convenient picture of a baby.

Trig having downs hsa nothing to do with the joke, the implication made or anything else.

Kids are off limits in politics, but in this case the kid is irrelevant to the joke - the blogger is riffing on the relationship between Palin and some crochety old radio host.

I didn’t think it was the result of a whoosh. I thought it was a clever way to convey that Joe, er, Samuel, wasn’t a plumber.

'Cause, see, Covered_In_Bees! said “Same with that plumber guy, whom we thankfully have learned to do the right thing about.” so pedescribe said “Since when was there some random plumber in the public eye?”

That’s how I read it anyway.

The baby is not being “brought into” anything. The baby’s picture just provides an outline to insert the picture of the radio guy who is the target of the joke. For anyone who would like to insist that the ababy is somehow being mocked, I would like to know specifically what they think is being said or implied about Sarah Palin’s actual baby.

Oh, puh-leeze. Even Palin isn’t clueless enough to believe that there is anything here to “protect” Trig from. This is nothing but a cynical attempt to play victim politics.

I’m still waiting for her to comment on the **Nailin’ Palin **video from last year. Talk about the outrage meter hitting 11.
