As far as I know, Trig is the only small child she has. So if a blogger is trying to make the point that this commentator is completely kissing her ass, it makes absolute sense to riff on the image of a mom and baby. I really can’t see how it’s possible to think that it’s a dig at a child with Downs.
As I’ve said before, this specimen just keeps giving. Is there really any concern in any quarter that the far right wing of the GOP isn’t in love with her? So she doesn’t need to play to that audience. Branch out. Make some centrists, even lefties find something to respect about you. Each media appearance and outcry screams FAIL.
She really is actually stupider and more clueless than she appears to be. I’m not one of those lefties who thinks GWB is stupid, or Reagan was dumb. Both of those guys knew to play to their audience, and even across to another audience. This is Dan Quayle vs. Murphy Brown stupid, and she still doesn’t get it. Would anyone even know about this blogger’s shitty photoshop job unless she commented on it?
I know, I’m just sayin’. I don’t think they were making a dig at the kid. And I don’t think Sarah does either, and I think it’s all politics. HOWEVER, I CAN believe she’s a little over-protective of HIM, especially. That’s all.
You guys do realize that by bringing this kind of thing up and taking her seriously you just keep the cycle going…right? I think if the left just ignored her and her various antics then eventually she would just sink back into obscurity, instead of still being in the public eye.
Of course, on the other side of the ledger, maybe that’s exactly what the left wants…to keep her in the public’s eye and on the public’s radar so that perhaps the Republican’s will attempt to run her the next go around.

This is the second appearance of this idea in the thread, which I guess I need explained to me. The link is from CNN. I seriously doubt that a Pit posting on the SDMB gives her any additional publicity that she isn’t already getting thirtyfold.
Palin was a VP candidate and one of 50 governors in the US. She can get media attention very easily. The point is, she chooses to obtain it for cripplingly dumb reasons. She could call a presser for the “Alaskan Defense of Marriage Act,” or siccing the National Guard on the Russkies and it would be on the news. Instead, she gets the cameras and mics pointed in her direction and says:
“Stop picking on me and my family… er, I mean DESECRATING me!”
Hell, if I have any bearing on her behavior, I’m going to post her foibles twice as much because I want the GOP to have to either a) disown her or b) allow her to remain in the spotlight, and watch their limited appeal crumble with her in the limelight.
It’s empowering to know I have so much sway over the political discourse in this country!
God damn it man, it has nothing to do with giving her additional exposure to the public. It has to do with exposing her to us over the stupidest shit.
She’s a stupid ass, we know this now. End of story. We don’t need to be informed of it any further. Be happy that CNN is exposing her dumb assery to the public (which she still doesn’t deserve), but we don’t need to be exposed to her shit.
Like you say, she’s not going to be here on the SDMB trying to acquire votes. It also means you’re not going to persuade anyone to think she’s fucking worthless, because we all already know this.

If Trig’s face had been photoshopped onto Joe the Plumber with the caption - “my most intelligent supporter” that would have been inappropriate.
As it stands, the fact that the baby was Trig does not matter to the joke, it could have been any random baby that Sarah was holding for the joke to work
If babies are off limits that means on both sides. Bloggers don’t take the piss, and Palin doesn’t use Trig to push her political credentials as a “caring mom of a special needs child”.
Personally, I’m OK with that. But she wouldn’t be sinking i the left ignored her. She’s very popular among Republicans and is doing everything she can to stay in the public eye.
Again I ask, if you feel this way, why do you keep posting in this thread? There’s a Chick tract thread every time a new one comes out. Nothing new IMO about them is mentioned, so guess what? I don’t know, I like hearing about her stupid shit and it may be something I hadn’t read elsewhere. If in 2 years someone references something that was elsewhere but not mentioned here, I’d think, “Wow, I didn’t hear about that. That’s some stupid shit right there. Why didn’t I hear about that?”
I still haven’t opened the David Letterman thread because I did hear about it elsewhere and thought, that’s some stupid shit right there, what a dumb ass bitch, so I didn’t open it. Then it got so long that I figured people were talking about other things besides Sarah’s stupid shit, but by then it was so long that I figured I’d need to take some serious time to get caught up, and that hasn’t happened yet.

Bolding mine. How the hell did “we” become something apart from “the public”? This is a nice place, but it doesn’t necessarily make us smarter, different, or at all separate from the hoi polloi. We are the public.
