Stop claiming it was a joke, you piece of crap

Thanks. Though do note that I follow that same advice for people who do this regularly. Life’s too short.

That said, FG isn’t on that list. I hope he’s just drunk and cranky. I really do hope he can get a handle on his alcoholism, as I genuinely worry about him from what he’s said.

Hate me all you want, but I’m still rooting for ya!

I’m not convinced you have any clue what happened.

Anyone else suspect that this may have been of a last straw kind of thing, and that there was probably more going on behind the scenes? I honestly would not be surprised if they had been having issues with her and were just looking for an excuse to cancel the show. The woman’s not exactly known for being a joy to work with.

No offense, but if this is your idea of “so far beyond the pale”, you’ve been pretty sheltered. This is actually pretty mild compared to what a lot of hardcore Trump supporters have been saying, sadly. :frowning:

And as far as “immoral behavior” goes, I find it really amusing that after all the scandals in the NFL involving things like domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual assault, head injuries, etc – THIS is the one thing that gets people the most upset. This is the hill they chose to die on.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

That was low, even for you.

Do you understand the difference between a racist insult and an insult that doesn’t bring race into it? Because it doesn’t seem like you do.

I’m fairly certain you’re dumber than my neighbor’s dog, and he regularly eats his own shit.

If conservatives got clobbered every time they insulted a liberal, Trump would have been crucified long before primary season ended.

I’m pretty sure it was in response to FoieGrasIsEvil commenting on being a dying alcoholic.

No shit. But his “I hope he’s just drunk”, considering the guy is dying of alcoholism? To me that’s just kind of messed up.

So can I take it from this post that you have no problem with the following statement:

“Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby=vj [valerie jarrett]”

Right? I mean, if it’s just an “insult”, then that’s not a big deal - people insult political figures all the time. So be honest - do you see anything wrong with this tweet?

Something really went wrong with a lot of white baby boomers and silent generation types in the last 20-30 years.

I assume it was a mix of talk radio and fox news, combined with a growing fear of America becoming a browner, gayer, more secular nation (combined with the rise of China and Islamic extremism).

But yeah, in the 90s Roseanne was still a bitch and a hypocrite but at least she wasn’t a racist Fox News conspiracy nut. I really think a lot of white people born before the 60s can’t handle multiculturalism. It literally drove them nuts.

I’m a horrible person, I just had an image of someone trying get to arrest a monkey that “apes” every move the police officer does.

seriously? You are going to use that word when complaining about someone maling an offensive statement?

What a trainwreck. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Removed a meta post about an attempt to hijack the thread.

On-topic: Roseanne is a bit weird now. She and John Goodman were on a talk show, Kimmel I think, and Goodman, on camera, while sitting next to her, did the “She’s crazy” thing with his hand.

OK. One of my Canadian relatives posted (shared) this.

How true is it?

"Roseanne:

I believe that each employer has the right to fire anyone they wish at anytime for behaviors they find unacceptable.
ABC has this right as well as the NFL! My only issue with this action by ABC to cancel the Roseanne show is there utter Hypocracy!
Weeks ago, Joy Baehar…of the View mocked Christians who believe that God speaks to them should be evaluated for Mental Illness! Muslims, Christians, Hindus,Jews and others believe in a personal relationship with the Creator…and Yes, we believe the almighty speaks to us in his own way.
Joy wasn’t fired for offending millions of believers. Moreover, this network supports and retains bigots of all kinds…because the people they attack and mock …are Conservatives, Christians…all is acceptable as long as the targets are not Liberal.
While I would not have used the same exact words to describe Valerie Jarret, Obama’s close advisor, I personally have great anger towards this woman. She and the enablers around her / Obama…was directly involved in the direct rape, torture, enslavement and murder of thousands of innocent Arab, Kurd, Yazi, Persian and Shi’a …across 8 nation’s across the Mideast. The Nobel peace prize winner Obama …brought death, chaos and human suffering and the greatest refugee crisis since WW2!
The poor souls of the Mideast have more choice words that describe what they think of Obama and those around him who allowed his war-crimes. Ask the orphans, ask the widows, ask the families of the 5 thousand killed by Obama’s Drones…ask them what words they would use to describe Jarret, Hillary, Kerry and the rest. I assure everyone…Roseanne’s comments are tame in comparison.
With this said.fire anyone you wish ABC…just be fair in your judgement and punishment! In the end…the market and the consumer will decide the ultimate fate of all!"

ETA: Quoted from one Shane Philip.

There’s a whole lot of crazy there and almost none of it makes any sense.

A pretty feeble attempt at a tu quoque about a talk show host associating “hearing voices” with “mental illness” in the context of evangelical religious belief.

Personally, I think that calling a black woman who spent the first few years of her life in pre-Revolutionary Iran under the Shah (because her parents were aid workers in children’s-health programs for developing countries) a cross between an Islamist terrorist and an ape is orders of magnitude worse than questioning the mental stability of people who claim to receive supernatural messages in their heads.

However, given the traditional exceptions from ordinary standards of empirical objectivity and consistency that are routinely awarded to religious beliefs, I agree that the latter remark was somewhat culturally insensitive and I’m glad the host in question publicly apologized for it. It still doesn’t come anywhere close to the offensiveness of suggesting a black woman is an “ape”, though.

As for your relative’s whataboutery outrage regarding Obama’s foreign policy in the Middle East, ask her how she felt about the 2003 Iraq invasion that got the whole current destabilization process going. With foreign policy as with the domestic economy, a lot of conservatives are gleefully vilifying Obama largely for having gotten landed with the aftermath of the appalling decisions of the Bush administration.

And nativist - Jarrett was born in Iran of American parents. The people attacking her for the sin of having been born in a place they dislike despite never having been there always leave out the last bit.

Leaffan, isn’t hypocrazy what doctors do? Or maybe the psychology of horses, but that might have two p’s.

As well as the fact that her early childhood in Iran was under the regime of the Shah, the monarch whose reign was supported by the 1953 CIA-backed coup. These whiny bozos can’t even keep track of which side they’re allegedly rooting for.

Why don’t we put in a call to Kathy Griffin and ask her about that.

Or in a similar vein, Al Franken.
