Stories where all humans are demon/angel hybrids?

Diablo 3 spoilers, I guess:

In the upcoming Diablo 3 (and current Diablo books) the human origin story is that the demoness Lilith and Arch Angel Inarius fell in love and gave birth to the human race. All humans are demon/angel hybrids with the potential to be stronger than either side, which is why the angels and demons are fighting over our souls in the first place. And the Worldstone artifact destroyed at the end of Diablo 2 was put in place to dampen human potential in case we got any funny ideas about turning against both sides and becoming independent.

I like it even though it sounds cliche. But I’m failing to think of other works with this trope. There are tons of individual demon/angel or god/human hybrids, including ones from ancient myths. But usually humans as a whole are specifically created by a good god and then maybe they’re corrupted or fall from grace later on. Or their creation was an accident or side effect of some other process. But then again I don’t read a lot of fantasy fiction. Any other examples?

It’s not exactly what you’re looking for as it’s only the title character, but the closest I can think of is the Preacher comics, where he is possessed by an angel/demon hybrid but retains his free will. It does contain the “may be stronger than both sides” trope, though.

Not all humans, but there’s a demon-angel-human hybrid in The Mortal Instruments series.

Sounds like a Go Nagai theme, mainly in Mao Dante & the various versions of Devilman.

Actually, it sounds like the sort of thing one would find in Japanese fantasy more than western, though angels and demons as such are relatively western.

While it’s sci-fi not fantasy, A Plague of Demons seems to qualify:

Wild C.A.T.S. comic by Jim Lee might qualify. The team are fighting as part of a war between the Kherubim and the Daemonites on earth. The team get their various powers because they are all Kherubim ‘half breeds’.

The difference is, the Kherubim and Daemonites are both alien races, but as this war has rages for centuries, I think they are supposed to be the inspiration for angels and demons in the bible.

It’s implied that this is the case for modern humans in Madeline L’Engle’s Many Waters, as only the children of angels are over four foot tall. And one group of angels is implied to be demons.
