Storm Ship Troopers 2 and 3 (NO spoilers!)

Okay.

So way back I saw Storm Ship Troopers when it came out. It was okay if you took it as a sorta parody. Watched it again last night. About the same reaction.

Its not a movie I’d watch on a regular basis, but once every decade or so its a tolerable way to be mildly entertained.

So, how do 2 and 3 compare?

Please no unboxed spoilers. Or at least “major ones”

Thanks.

Are you referring to Starship Troopers?

If so, neither of the sequels were very good, I thought. Though the third one was at least somewhat entertaining, as Casper Van Dien reprises his role from pt 1.

Yes.

That one. WTH was I thinking? It obviously left a lasting impression on me

I guess I just wanna know they don’t suck donkey balls compared to the first one. If they are that “good” or better I can live with it.

I suppose I just wanna avoid the “man, this is ONE shitty movie but I’ll stick it out in case it gets better” scenario.

No, ‘this sucks donkey balls compared to the first one’ pretty closely approximates my thoughts at the time. Part 3 might be worth a watch (if you are a Johnny Rico fan), but part 2 is Mortal Kombat Annihilation levels of bad.
If you need closure, just Wikipedia the films.

It’s more like they suck donkey balls just like the first one did.

Okay.

Thanks folks. Good to know this stuff going it. Though I DO like the occasional “man thats so bad its entertaining” film…I will at least make sure nobody else suffers while I watch it.

One question though. Do 2 and 3 at least have some plot continuity with each other and the 1st one?

Or in other words, does it all come together as one big sucky movie at least or is it 3 sucky movies that are sorta related?

Starship Troopers had 2 sequels??? I opened this thread thinking they had just been announced.

Next somebody will claim Highlander had sequels. Pull the other one, it’s got bells on.

Even worse, I thought someone else had filmed not one but 2 parodies as well. Even worse, dreamed that it was parodies all the way down…

They show ST3 on Univision all the time. Tremors 3, too.

To be honest, I kind of liked all the Starship Trooper movies

STT2 is very different from the other two - more like a horror/suspense kind of movie than that gung-ho action style of the others. It is no gem of the cinema, but it’s different enough in style that you might want to give it a try if you like sci-fi bugs. It’s certainly better than anything the SyFy channel has put out, though that’s about as low as the bar can go.

You may hate on Starship Troopers. You may hate on Starship Troopers 2. But don’t you DARE hate on Mortal Kombat Annihilation!
